Job Summary

Working as an Operations Controller you will be responsible for the accounting activity within an assigned account(s) and assisting the Regional Director of Finance with all aspects of the financial activities that occur within the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and process financial transactions. Work closely with operations management on weekly and monthly close processes at a unit level.

  • Regularly trains and develops all accounting and clerical procedures in the local team. Provides all-hand financial reporting training with Compass and Client standards of operation.

  • Directing the flow of the daily business transactions to the proper line in the PL

  • Review transaction activities, entries flow from unit, and corporate activities flow to unit PL to ensure accuracy before closing the month.

  • Become an expert on the POS system to help resolve sales posting and tax issues as needed.

  • Prepare and distribute billings to clients.

  • Communicate issues/concerns to operations management to resolve individual issues.

  • Conducting ICR (Internal Control Review).

  • Manage accounts receivable, including collections, cash application, and client billing.

  • Reconcile transaction, budget, and actual transaction level for reporting.

  • Resolves various accounting/reconciliation issues

  • Maintains inventory and cost control procedures

  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance.

  • Exceptional Customer Service skills and a positive "can-do" attitude.

  • Strong partnership skills

  • Ability to influence in a matrixed organization

  • Able to dynamically and creatively problem solve

  • Adept at managing multiple client and internal requests and deadlines

  • Able to shift priorities for self and team on short notice

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

  • Experience in the food service or retail industry is required; food service or retail operations experience is a plus.

  • Adapt behavior in dealing with changing situations and people. Be open-minded and adjust priorities in response to unanticipated events.

  • Collaborative - works well as a member of a Finance Ops team.
