Description This position is a member of a multi-disciplinary team that maintains the physical environment of the OR and procedural areas (cath lab, EP and IR) at the highest level of cleanliness, both from an appearance and infection control standpoint. The Perioperative Care Associate II (PCA II) under direction, assists the surgical/invasive procedural and Surgery/Procedure Admissions Unit (SPAU) staff with prepatory aspects of patient care, also will perform transportation, room cleaning and turnover, supply stocking, and general care of the environment. This position is responsible for continuously demonstrating proficiency in both basic and more advanced cleaning techniques in the surgical and procedural areas. Consistently and routinely demonstrates both skill and knowledge in the safe use of chemicals, equipment, cleaning techniques and infection control methods necessary to maintain the departments established quality standards. Is knowledgeable and demonstrates competence in the safe handling and removal of medical waste, inclusive of hazardous, regulated, infectious, recyclable, and innocuous (regular) waste. Assists the core facilitator with completion of case carts and preparation of positioning devices and equipment. Assists with quality improvement processes. The PCA II works under guidance of the Lead Core Tech and the Surgical Supervisor/Nurse Manager. Functions as a collaborative and participative member of an interdisciplinary team, consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Surgical Services department and Swedish Medical Center. Required Qualifications: 1 year performing duties of a Perioperative Care Associate I or equivalent experience in a healthcare environment.
