The Clinical Research Center APP, ARNP or PA-C, is responsible for the conduct of research activities as supported by their license within a dedicated clinical trials unit at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The research activities include, but are not limited to, administration of FDA-regulated investigational products to trial participants. The APP oversees and performs as needed, medical procedures that require ARNP or PA-C degree in medical practice. The APP reports directly to the Medical Director with a dotted line reporting to the Operations Director.
Oversee the conduct of trial measures, including performing more advanced clinic procedures within the ARNP or PA-C scope of practice and according to research protocols. This may include such procedures as determining medical fitness of study participants according to their research protocols, physical examinations, IV needle placement, IV administration and observation of infused investigational product, blood drawn from peripheral sites, and proper documentation of and timing of research-related procedures in source files.
Work directly with the principal investigator and other site staff to appropriately execute study procedures on site.
Assist the medical director on all clinical safety-related SOP maintenance, updates, and implementation.
Maintain current knowledge of and adherence to research protocols, standard operating procedures, and any protocol deviation documentation. This position may update concomitant medications and adverse events documentation in research files.
Create trial implementation plan, a summary of study procedures, and orders as needed for protocol activities occurring in the trial’s unit.
Maintain continuing education credits, ACLS certification, and credentialing requirements to perform following Washington State Department of Health quality assurance and center requirements.
Physician Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in medical practice with current Washington State license
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in clinical practice and FDA-regulated investigational products
Strong understanding of the regulatory environment surrounding clinical trials
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and manage changing priorities with excellent attention to detail
Excellent communication (written and oral), customer service, collaboration, problem solving and interpersonal skills
In addition to job duties at Fred Hutch, this position also requires access to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which requires COVID-19 vaccination without exceptions.
