Advanced Practice Provider, APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) - Inpatient APP Hospitalist Team

Join Harborview Medical Center as APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant), on our medicine inpatient service. The APP will work as a hospitalist in both the intensive care and acute care setting depending on the hospital need. After training, the provider in this position will work extended periods on inpatient services where there is a need for a provider. Location will change based on census on individual services and service needs. This is a full time Day Shift position, including week-ends (up to 2 weekends per month, depending on area), and also the potential for some limited number of night shifts. There are no on-call expectations. Providers will be trained and oriented to all new services they are assigned.

Under general administrative supervision of the Assistant Director of Inpatient APPs, and medical supervision of the medical director, the APP provides clinical expertise to patients and their families, is a resource person for health care providers, and participates in research and teaching programs.

Work is performed 7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility, under the guidance of the attending physicians, and in consultation with Fellows, residents and the unit’s Nurse Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Nurse Practitioner: Masters Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing AND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges AND National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. OR Physician Assistant: Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA). Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions.
