Provider Solutions & Development Genetics and High Risk Breast split APC in Seattle, Washington

Join the Swedish Medical Center at its First Hill Campus in Seattle, Washington, in a dual role as a full-time Genetics and High Risk Breast split APC at the Paul G. Allen Research Center within the Swedish Cancer Institute. This integrated position allows for impactful work in both direct patient care, multidisciplinary teamwork, and cancer research.

  • Manage care for patients with a history of breast cancer, including postoperative assessments, surveillance, and coordination of care to manage side effects of cancer treatments.

  • Perform cancer risk assessments and personalized cancer surveillance plans.

  • Counsel women on breast and other cancer risk reduction measures including lifestyle interventions, medications, and surgical options.

  • Evaluate and treat patients with benign breast disease and perform office-based procedures such as skin biopsy, seroma aspirations and breast abscess incision.

  • Offer clinical consultation, in-person exams, and coordinates ongoing surveillance for gene mutation carriers including patients with BRCA1/2 mutations and Lynch syndrome.

  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care

  • Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education in partnership with medical director of cancer genetics services

  • Participates in patient rounds, conference, committees as able

  • Engages in the Initiative for Prevention and Early Detection (IPED) focusing on developing and testing early cancer detection and prevention strategies.

  • Engages in the conduct of genetics and high-risk research projects and clinical trials for early cancer detection.

  • Ideal candidates will have a passion for breast surgical oncology and an eagerness to advance care and research in genetic predisposition to cancer.

  • 2-3 years of experience as an advanced practitioner preferred but new graduates with prior RN experience are welcome to apply.

  • Experience managing individuals with cancer genetic predispositions, oncologic or complex patients preferred

  • Cancer Genetics focused training not required but curiosity and willingness to learn would help with steep learning curve

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant program required.

  • Washington state licensure, DEA required, and ACLS required

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.

  • EPIC EMR experience preferred

  • Compensation ranges from $127,018 to $162.448 per year, depending on the role and experience, with potential incentives and CME benefits.

Swedish Medical Center’s First Hill campus is a 697-bed, general medical and surgical hospital in downtown Seattle. The largest of Swedish’s five hospitals, First Hill is considered the main Swedish campus. In addition to the hospital and emergency department, the campus is home to the Swedish Cancer Institute and the Swedish Orthopedic Institute. The hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including the area’s largest childbirth center, NICU and specialty pediatric care.
