*SEATTLE DRUM SCHOOL OF MUSIC HISTORY: Founded by Steve Smith in 1986, Seattle Drum School of Music has remained family-owned (along with his wife & co-instructor Kristy Smith) and expanded into an institution of 40+ teachers at two locations (Lake City & Georgetown). From beginning lessons to master classes, SDS offers instruction for every age and skill level including guitar, bass, piano, voice, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, and drums (duh) in addition to Music Production and Audio Engineering. SDSM has instructed 16,000+ students over its history. *

SCHOOL MANAGER DESCRIPTION: The School Manager at Seattle Drum School of Music is a critical role to the operations of the business. Each school has its own school manager, but shares information and functions to ensure the accurate processing of financial information while supporting all other business-related functions. The administrative team plays a vital role to ensure that lesson schedules are organized, tuition is processed, staff is paid, and the school is able to operate on a day-to-day basis. This is also the first point-of-contact for students and their families, as well as for prospective students.

This person is also responsible for office management which includes data management; communications (verbal and online, internal and external); and overseeing office supplies, services troubleshooting, cleanliness.

  • This position could be flexible to accommodate a four, or five day work week during school hours.
  • Lake City: 12729 Lake City Way NE Seattle WA, 98125.
  • Monday-Thursday 12pm-8pm, Friday 12pm-6pm, Saturday 12pm-4pm. Sunday CLOSED.

There is also an opportunity to support events in our Georgetown venue with booking, production, promotions, and serving as event liaison at them. (Events are often scheduled outside of school hours including Sundays.)

COMPENSATION: This is a non-benefited, hourly W-2 position at $20-$25 DOE. You will be surrounded by musicians of all ages in a family atmosphere.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

This role requires strong Administrative skills:

  1. A minimum of intermediate- level proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite and Excel functions.
  2. The ability to work within specialized scheduling programs and accurately transfer information across multiple platforms.

Ability to manage high-volume communication about personal financial data, such as tuition payments; also tracking of lessons, schedules, inquiries, etc. 

Comfortable with communications as the front-facing representative of the school, where Musician Instructors and students of all ages will be interacting with you first. 

Strong Organizational skills:

The ability to interrupt and re-prioritize tasks in a busy interactive environment and still complete them by the end of the day.
