Swedish Medical Center Medical Staff Competency Coordinator - Medical Staff Services in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Shared Services is looking for a Medical Staff Competency Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in Medical Staff Services at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA. The Medical Staff Competency Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the medical staff and allied health staff's performance data for professional improvement and competency assessment. Assists Department Chiefs and Chairs, Medical Directors, and Medical Administration in the review of data and utilization of performance reports. Educates staff, enters data as assigned, and incorporates information into all appropriate settings to meet quality initiatives and reporting, as well as in credentialing process. The Medical Staff Competency Coordinator maintains confidentiality of all matters relating to the operation of medical staff management and its records of proceedings and individual performance. This position provides system-wide support.

Experience and Skills:

  • Possess excellent organization, verbal communication, correspondence, presentation, and minute taking skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with medical staff leadership and administrative personnel

  • Working computer knowledge including proficiency using Microsoft Office, medical records data, and medical staff credentialing databases

  • Medical terminology and database management skills

  • Maintains professional behavior, and excellent customer service

  • Fosters teamwork and problem solving


Qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Current Certification by NAMSS (National Association Medical Staff Services) as CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Services Management) preferred, or actively seeking certification.
