Responsibilities

This clinic is located at our downtown Seattle clinic location.

Assists the physician with clinical duties. Take the patient’s history. Administers injections. Assists in examinations and procedures. Performs laboratory and radiological examinations.

  • Coordinates and schedules services for patients and providers. Maintains provider’s daily schedules and communicates changes.

  • Prepares charts with all necessary paperwork. Coordinates pre-authorizations. Requests/submits referrals.

  • Maintains filing of test results.

  • Updates insurance information. Manages information such as filing, pharm refill line, release/receipt of records, x-rays, referrals, pre-authorizations & quality checks on charge slips.

  • Provides patients with generic preoperative and postoperative information.

  • Acts as primary contact for patients. Answer telephones and schedule patient appointments with providers. Reminds patients of upcoming appointments. Schedules new or follow up appointments.

  • Explains logistics related to appointments (e.g., appointment time, parking).

  • Keeps patients informed of delays. Routes phone calls per urgent/emergent guidelines.

  • Perform telephone and in-person screening

  • Manages office supplies. Coordinates durable medical equipment delivery/return. Maintains stock & patient education materials Sorts mail & other communications.

  • Facilitates patient flow & rooming through taking medical histories, vital statistics, obtaining last visit notes and/or lab results.

  • Prepare patients for exams, treatments, procedures by obtaining vital signs: which may include temp, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight measurements. Explains tests or procedures and informs patients of test results.

  • Observe and record the patient's symptoms. Instruct patients in urine or fecal specimen collection. Collect throat culture specimens for microbiology testing. Perform heel or finger-stick capillary draw.

  • Screen and follow up test results. Maintain medication and immunization records. Administers eye drops. May perform a waived test: Glucose or Urine Dip. Additional responsibilities include venipuncture, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular injections, respiratory tests, medication administration and vaccine administration. Ambulatory responsibilities will include: aseptic procedures, assisting with exam, procedure, minor surgery, assisting in sterile procedures

  • Utilizing Standard Precautions: cleans & organizes exam rooms, cleans/sterilizes equipment, disposes of bio-hazardous materials and is responsible for autoclave wrapping.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited medical Assisting program,

With Washington State Department of Health medical Assistant - Certified (CM) or medical Assistant Interim (IC) credential required.

1+ year of MA-C experience is strongly preferred

  • knowledge of third party payer requirements required.

  • Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required.

Pay Range

$26.50 - $35.72 /hour
