  • Opportunity to provide career growth DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Dermatology Clinic at UW Medical Center-Roosevelt provides comprehensive dermatological care for patients with various skin conditions. We evaluate all skin conditions, from general to specialized care, for patients from all age groups. We also have specialized clinics for the evaluation and treatment of hair loss, atypical moles, nail disorders, cutaneous lymphomas, contact dermatitis and dermatology/rheumatology overlap conditions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Opens sterile supplies and sets up for each procedure.

  • Performs medical assisting duties which may include, but are not limited to, vital signs, height and weight, and assisting during excisions and Mohs surgical procedures. Ensures that all patient care areas are clean, organized, stocked and ready for patient use.

  • Assists Mohs surgeon during procedure according to prescribed standards. Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.

  • Sets up procedure room, according to prescribed standards.

  • Assists Mohs surgeon throughout the procedure with instruments, and providing hands on assistance, according to prescribed standards.

  • Takes appropriate photographs of Mohs stages. Label and organize photographs.

  • Sterilize and package instruments.

  • Sterilization and aseptic technique:

  • Communicates with patients, other teammates and the general public in a courteous, helpful manner by phone and in person.

  • Document in the electronic medical system (EMR) as needed. REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent

  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment

  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
