Key statistics: 950+ Consultants 640+ Ph.D.s 90+ Disciplines 30+ Offices globally Our Opportunity We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Mechanical Engineering Practice in Seattle, WA. The start date for this position is July 2024 or beyond; we are unable to consider earlier start dates. In this role, you will work as a part of a team consulting on a wide variety of mechanical engineering issues. You will be responsible for Applying the principles of mechanical engineering design, analysis, and practice to a wide variety of technical problems Conducting hands-on and engineering analyses of mechanical equipment, machinery, and product failures to understand the cause Working in collaboration with experts in other engineering and scientific disciplines Conducting field inspections of machinery, facilities, fires, and products, and thoroughly documenting observations and findings Planning and executing custom laboratory tests using a variety of traditional and novel methods Performing calculations and analyses using state-of-the art methods Creating detailed and accurate written reports and presentations, and presenting these communications to both technical and non-technical audiences Communicating and working effectively with clients and other Exponent staff at all levels of the company You will have the following skills and qualifications Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Outstanding verbal and written communications skills Completion of formal coursework in machine design, materials science, thermal sciences, fluid and solid mechanics, control systems, and statistics Experience with experimental techniques and equipment, including electronic instrumentation and data acquisition Strong facility with Microsoft Office, CAD, and other common software tools Working knowledge of basic computational and numerical analysis methods and programs, including finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and MATLAB Specialized knowledge, hands-on experience, and/or strong interest in the fields of vehicle mechanics/dynamics, fire investigation, and construction Ability to convey complex technical information to individuals not educated in technical fields Ability to work within project teams with a strong desire to contribute Potential for technical and project managerial leadershi
