Port of Seattle Marine Maintenance Business Analyst in Seattle, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
As a Marine Maintenance Business Analyst, you will interface between strategic business objectives, operations, and technology and data by leveraging expertise in the full data analysis lifecycle, operations research, continuous process improvement principles, and technological solutions planning.
You will independently complete custom data analysis or other analytical research-based projects, employing best practice techniques and technologies, while ensuring alignment with Port strategic goals and plans.
You will serve as subject matter expert for advanced data analysis, employing technical expertise to extract actionable insights and drive business decisions.
You will identify, plan, manage, facilitate, and implement key Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), technology, and data analysis projects to improve quality, reduce costs, increase productivity, resulting in significant business improvement or stakeholder satisfaction.
You will design, develop, and implement reports and Key performance Indicators (KPIs) tailored to business needs, and actively communicate results to leaders and staff, employing dynamic visual reporting to highlight trends and anomalies in alignment with business objectives.
You will collaborate with the systems administrator to implement business intelligence solutions to achieve data reporting and analysis.
You will develop and maintain all departmental business and system process flows and narratives including procedural documentation (SOP), technical specifications, and other associated documentation.
You will support senior management strategic business initiatives.
You will deliver insights and recommendations to senior managers, collaborating with various departments or cross-functional teams to identify needs, identify risks, collect data, or otherwise extract information to fill gaps to enable understanding of issues.
Who you are:
Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in data analytics.

Proficient – You are skilled in Continuous Process Improvement and Business Analyst Body of Knowledge (BABOK) methodologies in relational databases, reporting tools, data visualization and Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) software. You are also proficient in data management, analysis, statistical techniques, and developing KPIs and metrics.
Efficient Communicator – You possess effective verbal, written, and active listening communication skills. You can write concise, organized, and clear communications to internal and external customers and can leverage interpersonal skills and technical knowledge to diplomatically build consensus and negotiate with multiple stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
Problem - Solver – You are highly skilled at problem-solving and critical-thinking, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility to articulate new solutions and ideas in solving complex problems and balancing conflicting priorities. You can use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Analytical – You are skilled in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing complex data to inform strategy, negotiations, and process improvement. You can analyze and synthesize information from a variety of sources and communicate key concepts simply and effectively. You are also skilled in various research techniques (qualitative, quantitative, operations research, survey design, etc.) to support selection of appropriate strategies and research designs.
What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment, with the opportunity to work remotely at Management’s discretion.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
