RealNetworks (Nasdaq: RNWK) is seeking an experienced Tax Manager with a broad background and experience on projects ranging from GAAP to Tax to join our global finance team at our Seattle headquarters. This position will play a key role in our tax operations as well as support other accounting areas, working with all areas of finance (Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Internal Audit).What we’re like: RealNetworks' finance is a team of outstanding, strategic-minded experts in our fields. You are analytical and a natural problem solver.What you'll work on in this role: *Developing and implementing strategic tax planning for federal, international, and state taxes; *Assisting in federal, state, local, and international tax audits; *Providing support for transactions including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, financing, and business initiatives; *Researching and writing technical memoranda to document tax issues and anticipated tax considerations; *Preparing tax forecasts and models associated with planning/business initiatives and changes in tax legislation; *Identifying tax problems and developing solutions; *Participating in special projects and process improvement initiatives; *Maintaining effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process; *Maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries; *Analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, and identifying and resolving discrepancies; *Preparing supporting documentation and reviewing tax returns; *Reviewing and managing the indirect tax compliance process, including state sales/use tax and VAT, and related reporting documents; *Maintaining and updating action calendars to ensure all accounting and tax deadlines are met; *Supporting worldwide income tax provisions under FASB ASC 740, including SEC disclosure elements of financial statements; *Implementing transfer pricing strategies, including calculations, maintaining documentation, and worldwide inter-company billing processes; *Building excellent audit files to support financial statement audits for areas of ownership; and *Conducting ad hoc analyses, as needed. What you'll need to be successful in this role: *A degree in accounting, finance, tax or a related field; *4+ years of experience as a Tax Accountant or related role, preferably working with an international and/or public company; *4+ years of experience in federal/state compliance, including preparing and reviewing corporate federal, state, and local income tax returns; *An understanding of US GAAP and ability to apply it
