Amazon Manager, Finance Management, North America Middle Mile FP&A in Seattle, Washington

Amazon is seeking a Finance Manager to help own critical functions within the rapidly growing Middle Mile org.

This role will be part of the Middle Mile FP&A team supporting Sort Center, Surface Transportation and Amazon Air. In addition to owning reporting and financial planning for the Shipped with Amazon (SWA) product, the Finance Manager will partner with Middle Mile and Operations Standardization and Automation (S&A) teams as we build standardized reporting solutions and automation to improve middle mile planning speed, quality and cost structure.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following abilities: they have strong financial modeling skills, technical aptitude to analyze large data sets, clearly communicate financial data analysis findings with stakeholders, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. They collaborate with leaders and various business units across Amazon. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building creative solutions with large-scale data mining tools, identifying the high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that effect company-wide strategic decisions. Candidates should demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills as direct interaction with leadership is common.

Key job responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering weekly/monthly financial close, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and consolidations utilizing financial systems and responsible for telling the story of the E2E MM financials and metrics

  • Building a strong MM planning team through hiring, and developing team members.

  • Identify opportunities and lead projects to streamline processes.

  • Provide financial support to business partners on its key initiatives that improve the quality of deliveries, speed of delivery and/or reduce costs

  • Identify risks, evaluates impact, proposes changes, and implements improvements to remediate gaps.

  • Proactively partner with managers to prioritize and focus on high-impact activities and to de-prioritize those which are unlikely to drive material improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

  • 7+ years of finance experience, or Master's degree and 5+ years of finance experience

  • 3+ years of direct management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • Experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

    • 3+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience
    • MBA, or CPA
    • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
