UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a MANAGER, AUTOMATION SERVICE LINE position.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Owning the operational implementation of UW Medicine ITS automation strategy and initiatives.

  • Leading communication and engagement strategies with stakeholders and managing the overall timeline, budget, resources, and benefits across all automation projects.

  • Managing a team of Analysts, Developers, and a Solutions Architect to create a portfolio of use cases, to assess, build, implement, and maintain automation solutions. ABOUT THE AUTOMATION SERVICE LINE The Automation Service Line goes beyond theory, embodying tangible goals, streamlined processes, allocated resources, and indispensable tools. The Manager, Automation Service Line will lead communications and stakeholder engagement across UW Medicine to gain organizational commitment to process improvement through automation, working with groups across UW Medicine, facilitating workshops, identifying and helping to prioritize opportunities, and leading governance, partnering to identify risk and ensuring fairness and transparency. The Manager, Automation Service Line will lead the team to deliver automation, thinking about scalability, risk, and maintainability.

    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You implement and sustain strong processes and capabilities through the enhancement, deployment, and maintenance of methods, metrics, tools, training, education, and communication.

  • You manage assigned budget(s) and resources.

  • You manage and sustain vendor/supplier relationships.

  • You maintain appropriate levels of service delivery to deliver and improve services for the enterprise.

  • You foster an IT Service Management culture.

  • You collaborate across ITS and with business partners to promote automation and identify automation tools or methods.

  • You form, manage, organize, and positively influence a team of professionals.

  • You oversee long-term team strategy and succession planning.

  • You instill UW Medicine and ITS vision and guiding principles to all staff, implementing mission-oriented HR practices.

  • You promote an environment that is attractive to the employee and that facilitates the recruitment and retention of professional, technical, and support staff, including, but not limited to, staff development, recognition, motivation, and communications. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • 6+ years of experience to include the below.

  • 6+ years of experience which should include:

  • 4+ years’ experience in program management, including leading a team in program creation, build, and implementation.

  • 5+ years’ experience in project management.

  • 4+ years’ experience mentoring, leading, or managing technology and/or business professionals.

  • Proven experience managing larger transformation programs, automation, or process improvement.

  • Strong experience in negotiation and influencing to deliver on project objectives, especially with governance committees.

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with demonstrated outside-the-box problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in Agile concepts and tools.

  • Strong experience in proactive risk assessment and management in project delivery.

  • Advanced knowledge of automation tools and practices, including RPA, with hands-on implementation and continuous improvement experience.

  • Demonstrated superior organizational redesign experience.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully implementing change in complex organizations.

  • Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to influence in matrix environment.

  • Proven ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and provide guidance and leadership to staff.

  • Self-motivated, with a process improvement mindset. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.

  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.

  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.

  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.

  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
