As a Registered Nurses at Bailey-Boushay House you will: - Specialize in serving patients with and without AIDS who require end of life care, including those with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), Huntington's disease or any illness limiting a person's life expectancy to less than three months. - Work with both the outpatient program serving 320 individuals and the 35 bed inpatient program. - Work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals including therapists, social workers, nursing assistants and dietary staff. - Provide around-the-clock nursing care focused on the needs of the patient, and the people in the patient's life. - Social and cultural diversity is respected and honored by our staff members, who actively participate with families and loved ones to honor special wishes and needs during the patient's stay. - Patients facing the end of life are supported medically, emotionally, and spiritually in an environment that emphasizes quality of life. Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients including making a patient assessment; collects medical data; documents data for appropriate visit; and assists with the physical exam.

  • Triages patient situations over the telephone to determine the appropriate medical attention.

  • Administers medications based upon written orders from the physician.

  • Uses triage and decision making skills to schedule patients on the computer.

  • Provides patient education through maintaining well-stocked supplies and medical literature regarding various medical issues.

  • Assists in various medical procedures.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to triage and assess patients; strong interpersonal skills; a basic knowledge of nursing; the ability to solve problems; excellent technical skills; physical stamina; time management skills; excellent communication skills; experience in an ambulatory care setting; the ability to be multi-task oriented; the ability to work at a fast pace; and the ability to operate as a member of a team.

A current Washington State Practical Nursing License is required for this position.

Pay Range

$29.87 - $36.79 /hour
