Position Category: Editorial, Writing, & Content Management Company/Location (search) : Country (Full Name): : United States Job DescriptionData Center Global Services (DCGS) is looking for a Localization Engineer with a background in Machine Translation (MT) to join our in-house Localization team, supporting global data center engineering and operations. DCGS is responsible for building, maintaining, and evaluating the electrical plants, cooling plants and physical spaces that support Amazon's servers. Job Duties * Support translation memory and terminology tools used to perform translation work. Train and mentor others in programming concepts and application of key technologies. * Localization source file preparation (multiple formats) and post-translation desktop publishing (DTP) * Evaluate statistical and neural models for MT use-case suitability * Work with both internal and external partners to explore options for machine translation of technical content * Establish a workflow to integrate an MT solution into our existing process * Liaise with in-house linguists to gather feedback on MT output and implement required changes * Analyze the accuracy and performance of the MT solution Basic Qualifications* BS in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Language Technologies, Linguistics, or in another data engineering field. * 3+ years of related experience * Experience in launching and managing a MT solution * Strong knowledge of HTML/XML, coding/scripting, command-line utilities, regular expressions, SQL and proven experience of creatively solving problems by writing code and deploying tools * Experience with system integration and agile development * Good implementation skills in Java (or other high-level programming language) as well as Python or similar scripting languages. * Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills. * Formal or informal knowledge of linguistics and / or foreign languages. * Strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to exercise high standards for quality while meeting tight deadlines Preferred Qualifications * MS in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Language Technologies, Linguistics, or in another data engineering field. * Experience using tools and systems for standard Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks, such as language modeling, named entity recognition, syntactic parsing, etc. * Experience / familiarity with general machine learning algorithms * Knowledge of localization and computer-assisted translation tools * Experience working in a global team * Ability to evangelize and train linguists on the processes * Creativity, flexibility, willingness to take ownership Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role Amazon is an Equal Opportunity-Affirmative Action Employer – Minority / Female / Disability / Veteran / Gender Identity / Sexual Orientation
