Hiring hourly range: $37 - $39 (hourly/salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).

The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, however, various hours may be required based on business demand.

As a LIS Technical Lead, you will be responsible for daily support activities, including:

As the Laboratory Instrumentation Technical Lead, you will be responsible for acting as lead and subject matter expert, in lab instruments, troubleshooting, and calibration service on laboratory equipment (Freezers, Incubators, etc.), PLCs and other controls for commercial and industrial equipment to ensure uninterrupted operation of essential instrumentation, controls and electrical equipment. You will perform hands-on technical maintenance in a prompt, effective, and safe manner.  

  • Leading the lab instrument technician team and providing expert troubleshooting when needed.

  • Providing oversite and training to new technicians

  • Fielding client questions about lab specific equipment

  • Providing overall support for technicians when needed

  • Calibrating and maintaining pharmaceutical laboratory equipment and instrumentation such as freezers, and incubators (You will not be responsible for Analytical Laboratory Instrumentation (HPLC, GC, Mass Spec etc).

  • Calibrating process instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, humidity, etc.

  • Utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record calibration data.

  • Utilizing some mechanical and electrical skills to complete assignments.

  • Complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Operating various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments in performing calibrations.

  • Providing regular reports to senior management regarding throughput/performance, issues or concerns, projects in laboratories, and other assigned production projects.

  • Responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Analyzing and resolving work problems or assisting workers in solving work problems.

  • Understanding company policies and enforcing safety regulations.

  • Operating various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.

  • Operating a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

Communication

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, i.e., listening to customer needs, articulating path forward and giving solutions that provide value to the customer, etc.

  • Accurately document electronic and paper cataloging system to provide information to customer or regulatory personnel.

  • Strive for quick complaint resolution; to resolve problems on the first call and avoid escalation of issues through operational knowledge.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Six years of experience working in a pharmaceutical, chemical, industrial, or related laboratory environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.

  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen. Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Some physical/special requirements include:

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs

  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate degree or Technical School Certificate for Instrumentation / Electronics

  • Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses.

  • ISA level 1 Certification.

  • Experience with digital controls systems, PLCs, etc.

  • Experience in calibration of Process Instrumentation on equipment such as Autoclaves and Glassware Washers.

  • Experience in calibration of Laboratory equipment including Incubators, Freezers, Refrigerators, Centrifuges, Ovens, and/or Shakers.

  • Experience in calibration of instrument transmitters including Pressure, Pressure Differential, Vacuum, Temperature, RH, CO2, Speed, Flow, and Level

  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.

  • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
