Housing & Food Services (HFS) provides on-campus housing to over 10,000 student residents and operates over 40 dining and café locations that serve the entire campus community. PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to improve and maintain the quality, frequency, and efficacy of training for HFS employees. This position will work collaboratively with human resources staff as well as functional unit leaders at all levels to identify needs for technical and developmental curriculum and assist in developing the most effective content and delivery methods for meeting those needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES Learning and Development:

  • Apply an understanding of equity, antiracism, learning theory, adult learning principles, and universal design to all aspects of work.

  • Gain a thorough working knowledge of each functional unit to work alongside leaders to support the design, delivery, and assessment of effective technical and developmental training programs.

  • Engage departmental leaders at all levels regarding new programs, services, processes, and projects to ascertain the need for training and support the development and delivery of a training plan.

  • Work one-on-one with staff who have responsibility for training to apply standards and best practices in developing and delivering training; provide data informed feedback based on assessment data.

  • Provide guidance on how and when training activities should be considered in response (in whole or in part) to certain issues/problems.

  • Develop standards for the development and delivery of training.

  • Provide learning opportunities for staff who have responsibility for training and others who desire to develop this competency.

  • Apply a blended approach of training delivery techniques including face-to-face, online, self-directed, coaching, experiential, etc., to address learning requirements.

  • Develop tools and resources (a “self-serve” model) available to staff who have responsibility for training and others who desire to develop this competency.

  • Develop tools and resources (a “self-serve” model) to support exploration of diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.

  • Conduct an assessment to determine training efficacy and coordinate adjustments deemed necessary.

  • Develop reports, metrics, and systems for information sharing and analysis.

  • Work independently to write, edit and develop informational materials.

  • Develop and conduct training as needed.

  • Work one-on-one with staff seeking performance improvement or professional development. One-on-one work may include task analysis to determine learning needs and/or job aids, training needs assessment, coaching, training, observation and feedback and additional methods to support increased efficacy.

  • Compose on-demand trainings utilizing adult learning principles in the Articulate software, ensuring the highest level of accessibility in each program.

  • Identify subject matter experts to deliver training programs.SharePoint Development:

  • Manage and update HFS HR’s SharePoint site. Configure HFS HR SharePoint website, making sure it is tailored to suit the needs of all HFS staff users.

  • Responsible for managing libraries, and lists, and ensuring workflows are in place to streamline content management.

  • Identify and resolve issues that arise within the HFS HR SharePoint environment.

  • Train users on how to make the most out of SharePoint’s features.Leadership:

  • Lead the HFS Training Consortium to enable cross-unit collaboration and synthesis of training programs and methodologies throughout HFS.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to help identify training and/or equity needs.

  • Serve as a consultant to teams and committees to assess and identify learning and equity needs.

  • Coordinate and facilitate HFS Collaboration Meetings. Support presenters in presentation preparation as needed.

  • Identify, articulate, and model values and behaviors that support an organizational culture characterized as inclusive, positive, productive, and committed to serving staff and students.

  • Maintain relationships with internal and campus colleagues and stakeholders to foster collaboration and maintain regular feedback loops to ensure awareness of their concerns, policies and/or legal constraints.

  • Complete and execute an annual personal development plan to maintain subject-matter currency. IMPACT TO THE UNIVERSITY Contribution to the Department’s organizational effectiveness. POSITION COMPLEXITIES Developing learning for a diverse audience of student, classified and professional staff. WORKING CONDITIONS Position works regular office hours with occasional evening and/or weekends to participate in special events. The nature of the work allows flexibility for remote work and scheduling. REPORTS TO Director of HR and DEIB Lead QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor’s degree in education, human resources or other related field; and 2 years relevant work experience in an office or academic setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
