Hiring hourly range: $30 - $32 (hourly/salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).

The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, however, various hours may be required based on business demand.

As a Lab Instrument Services Technician, you will be responsible for daily support activities, including:

  • Acting as a subject matter expert in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and calibration service on incubators, centrifuges, balances, and other laboratory equipment to ensure uninterrupted operation of essential instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment.

  • Effectively communicates with the site management team and the client.

  • Calibrating process instrumentation such as Volume, Weight, Humidity, etc.

  • Utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track, schedule calibration, and maintenance records for lab process equipment.

  • Providing regular reports to senior management regarding throughput/performance, issues, and projects in laboratories and other assigned production projects.

  • Identifying and documenting cost savings.

  • Utilizing strong mechanical and electrical skills to complete assignments.

  • Complying with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Analyzing and resolving work problems. Assisting workers in solving work problems.

  • Understanding company policies and enforcing safety regulations.

  • Operating various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.

  • Operating a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

  • Maintaining a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer. 

  • Performing functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.

  • Performing other duties as assigned by Management or Lead

As the Lab Instrument Services Technician, you will be expected to:

Communication

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint

  • Ability to communicate clearly via phone

  • Ability to work closely with customer during site emergencies.

  • Excellent oral and written communications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, i.e., listening to customer needs, articulating path forward and giving solutions that provide value to the customer, etc.

  • Accurately document electronic and paper cataloging system to provide information to customer or regulatory personnel.

  • Strive for quick complaint resolution; to resolve problems on the first call and avoid escalation of issues through operational knowledge.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 5 year of job-related experience or equivalent

  • Three years of experience maintenance planning experience in a laboratory, scientific instrumentation, research and development, or industrial environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, writing skills, and aptitude for details. Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.

  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen. Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, weekends, various shifts, rotation, and alternative work schedules.

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Some physical/special requirements include:

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs

  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Certification or formal training from Facility Maintenance Organizations such as IFMA, AFE or BOMA.

  • Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses.

  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.

  • Mechanical/electrical aptitude and experience in a variety of laboratory equipment, including but not limited to centrifuges, incubators, refrigerator/freezers, and other specialized machines used in a pharmaceutical research environment.

  • Reliability maintenance experience, including data gathering programs.

  • Strong knowledge and experience with a CMMS, such as MAXIMO, EAMS, or a related database system.

  • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Associate degree or equivalent trade school credentials in instrumentation, controls, or electronics.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
