The Labcorp Inpatient Lab at Cherry Hill Hospital is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Seattle, WA.

LabCorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Seattle, WA. This role works in a high volume, production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.   • Pay Range: $20.07- $28.52, Plus $2.00 2nd Shift differential.

  • Work Schedule : Tuesday to Saturday 02:00 pm - 10:30 pm

  • Work Location: Cherry Hill Hospital Stat Lab: 550 17th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122

  • Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience and the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Dynacare Northwest, Inc. and United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 21. Regular, full-time or part-time employees working 24 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(K), accrue up to 18 days of Annual Leave per year (includes 8 holidays) and Sick Leave (0.0333 hours of sick leave for each hour of work).

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the receiving and processing laboratory specimens and requisitions.

  • Enter requisitions data into the database, label, centrifuge, and aliquot all specimens.

  • Hospital based position in 200 plus bed quaternary care facility. Responsible for effectively triaging and accessioning large volumes of multiple specimen types to meet robust turnaround requirements.

  • Provides front line phone customer service to hospital and clinic staff.

  • Assist in training lab assistant staff.

  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information

  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance

  • Troubleshoot any specimen related issues

  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Excellent communication skills necessary to deal effectively with co-workers, clients, and hospital staff.

  • A willingness to work in fast paced, high volume laboratory.

  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills and critical thinking skills are necessary.

  • Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred

  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens

  • Ability to accurately identify specimens

  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask

  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time

  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test

  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
