Responsibilities

Tracks instrument resources necessary for supporting surgical procedures within the perioperative services division by setting up and facilitating inventory controls and support systems for surgical instrumentation. Functions as a liaison to the perioperative services departments and vendors to facilitate the ordering, stocking/restocking, inventorying, tracking and recording of specialized surgical instrumentation and implants as requested by physicians and resource nurses for designated procedures.

Responsibilities include: 1) working closely with physicians and resource nurses to gather instrument/implant inventory needs in advance of surgeries, 2) arranging sterile trays/sets for a wide variety of surgical procedures, 3) working closely with vendors to order, track, document and return vendor owned instrumentation before and after procedures, 4) conducting visual inspections/inventories, maintaining adequate stock levels and storing supplies 5) maintaining repair records and training colleagues in the use of electronic instrument tracking system and 6) handling the resolution of damaged or lost instruments as required.

The work requires exceptional attention to detail, excellent customer services skills, knowledge of technical nomenclature and the use and operation of a wide variety of surgical instrumentation,

equipment and supplies, OSHA standards and basic aseptic techniques and sterilization standards and processes, including steam and other methods of sterilization.

Qualifications

We Require:

Graduation from an accredited sterile processing or surgical technician program and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible related healthcare work experience, preferably in an acute care hospital sterile processing

environment

Current Certification as a Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) or CSPDT certification through internationally recognized organizations such as IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service

Materials Management) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing) is required; OR The ability to obtain IAHCCSMM certification within eighteen months of date of hire (which requires 400 hours of

Sterile Processing work experience).

$24.06 - $39.22/hour
