Amazon International Tax Analyst, International Tax Reporting & Compliance in Seattle, Washington

Amazon is seeking an International Tax Analyst to join its Worldwide Reporting and Compliance team based in Seattle, WA. The person in this role will focus primarily on the taxation of cross-border business activities and transactions. The successful candidate will support complex tax calculations, process improvements, data automation, and evaluate tax implications of legislative proposals and changes in facts. The person in this role will also provide support for Amazon’s US and international controversy teams in responding to tax audits and information inquiries.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of Amazon’s initiatives related to Pillar Two calculations, analysis, and compliance.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally across various teams within and outside of tax.

  • Contribute to Amazon’s U.S. tax reporting and compliance obligations for non-U.S. operations (e.g., Forms 5471, 8858)

  • Work with advanced cloud-based calculation models to ingest, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to support various international tax Reporting & Compliance workstreams, as assigned.

  • Drive process improvements and coordinate with in-house and external technology advisors to facilitate streamlining and automation of recurring calculations.

  • Remain current on developments in tax policy, tax legislation, Treasury regulations, IRS Rulings, Revenue Procedures and court decisions and consider how changes may affect your areas of responsibility.

  • Research advanced international tax issues, working with outside advisers as necessary, as part of a tax team involved in supporting business initiatives.

  • Draft responses and provide tax-technical support to Amazon’s U.S. and international tax controversy teams in tax audits.

About the team

This opportunity for an International Tax Analyst will join a diverse team of experienced tax professionals responsible for the tax controllership related to U.S. international tax rules and various cross-border tax regimes stemming from the OECD’s work on BEPS initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries

  • 6+ months of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • CPA

  • Master's degree in Taxation / Accounting (or a related field, e.g., finance, economics, business analytics)

  • Prior tax internship or full-time tax experience in public accounting firm or large corporate multi-national enterprise.

  • General knowledge of U.S. federal income tax rules.

  • Basic understanding of ASC 740 accounting for income taxes.

  • Previous coursework and/or strong desire to work with cutting-edge data analytic tools and advanced technology resources in working with large data sets.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $47,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $102,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
