Internal Audit Intern

Location: Seattle, WA

Duration: 10 weeks

Who You Are:

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Internal Audit, this undergrad intern role will work with our external consultants as we complete different compliance steps as a newly SOX404A public company. This successful candidate will assist the team in evaluating the control environment, as well as documenting and testing various financial and IT general controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. This role will require the ability and desire to effectively and proactively get in touch with individuals across the organization to accomplish testing as well as update process documentation.

Your Next Challenge

• Reviews and assesses internal controls for key processes, as well as flowchart those processes.
• Learns to assess whether risks are being sufficiently mitigated.
• Completes testing of business process internal controls including entity-level controls.
• Assists the IT senior or manager with documenting and testing various IT General, Security, Operational and Change Management Controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
• Communicates with control owners across the organization to accomplish testing.
• Identifies, develops, and documents control deficiencies and/or recommendations for improvement using independent judgment concerning the control(s) being reviewed.
• Compliance with laws and regulations.
• Safeguarding of assets including risk identification.

What You'll Need:

• Enrolled in an undergraduate bachelor program majoring in accounting or finance with minimum 3.5 GPA.
• The ability to work 30-40 hours during the summer.
• Must be able to make a 10-week minimum commitment to work.
• Microsoft Office Skills (Excel/Word/Office).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills with a confirmed ability to stay on task.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize work.
• Visio flowcharting knowledge/skills or a willingness to learn.

Nice to Have:

• PowerPoint
• Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
• Understanding of internal controls/COSO framework
• Understanding of basic fraud concepts/risks
• Management information systems terminology
