Provides tactical and technical support to Engineering R&D by performing activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro/mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, you will directly support Blue Origin's R&D teams working to develop new, state-of-the-art technologies and systems needed to advance human spaceflight. Responsibilities include general fabrication, maintenance, and operation of mechanical systems where you will apply your technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to support R&D projects, systems, and critical infrastructure. Responsibilities: Work with engineers to review design concepts, provide feedback for ease of assembly, and support development tests Review, edit and follow work instructions for assembly tasks Plan and communicate assembly steps for complex mechanical and/or electrical installations Safely work with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure Maintain a clean work environment Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in a mechanical or electrical field 3+ years of experience in aerospace or related fields Experience working with standard mechanical tools, fabrication shop equipment, Band saw, Cornice Break, Tube BenderFlaring and facing machines and Drill Press. Experience with pneumatic systems, propellant loading and off-loading systems Experience with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety Ability to read and interpret drawings - 3D modeling (CREO) Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts Capable of using precision tools to accurately measure tight tolerances (calipers, height gauge, scales, etc.) Ability to read and understand aerospace 2D/3D drawings Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Must be physically able to: Climb ladders and stairs, and work in small, restricted areas Lift and carry 25 lbs.
