UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central information technology organization for the University of Washington, responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and direction of the UW’s IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT provides critical technology support to all three campuses, UW Medicine, and research operations around the world, partnering with the UW community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service. Data & Applications (D&A) is the division in UW-IT that runs the university’s academic and business systems, productivity platforms, enterprise integrations, learning analytics and data for decision-making and is also responsible for the accessibility of UW’s digital resources.
Data Integrations is the unit within D&A focused on data, especially UW Administrative data. The unit leads integrating data into the enterprise, amplifying the value of UW's data, and ultimately enabling customers and partner success.
The University of Washington is seeking a Workday Integration Engineer to play a key role in supporting its Workday Financials system. The incumbent designs, implements, supports, and maintains integrations between Workday and internal and external UW information systems to achieve the University’s quality and business objectives for financial management.
The incumbent has responsibility to contribute toward ongoing implementations of integrations with Workday's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) system as well as support those in production. The integrations involve many different systems across a diverse range of internal and external partners. This position translates financial requirements into Workday integrations. The incumbent designs, develops, and maintains existing and new interfaces into and out of Workday. The incumbent develops solutions using a standard, quality-driven approach. The position identifies and communicates gaps or trade-offs in designs across technical and non-technical audiences using effective communication skills. The incumbent participates in recommending the most effective and efficient integration design architecture. This position also supports, troubleshoots and documents integration issues as they arise with the goal of maintaining a stable and robust Workday system.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, related field or experience.
Four years of technical experience working on increasingly complex projects.
Experience integrating systems with third-party service vendors.
Working experience with Workday Integration Cloud Platform, Integration Cloud Connect, APIs, EIBs, Workday Studio, Business Objects, etc.
Ability to communicate clearly, in writing and orally, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, presentation skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities. DESIRED:
Experience with MS SQL Server query design, query optimization, troubleshooting, stored procedure development, T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL or equivalent database management system.
Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and using web services for consuming, testing and delivering data between systems.
Demonstrated experience in problem solving and issue resolution within business and technical contexts, including phases of fit-gap analysis, system design and configuration, security design, system integration, testing, training, reporting, requirements tracking, and business process improvement.
Experience with Jira, SharePoint or other enterprise tools for managing work and tracking deliverables.
Experience in a large university, large medical center, or other large complex enterprise.
Experience working with a Financial system at a technical level.
Experience representing and/or leading aspects of system development and implementation efforts across a large, decentralized enterprise.
Familiarity with network protocols (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS), data encryption (PGP, SSL, X.509), and secure connections (user name, password, host, port).
Experience gathering requirements from functional experts.
Experience and knowledge working across unit, functional, integration and acceptance testing phases.
Experience designing within a complex data integration environment across multiple platforms, data structures and formats.
Experience acting as a collaborative and supportive member of a team in a dynamic environment.
Familiarity with information security, code management, and data management best practices.
Strong knowledge of Workday Custom Report and Calculated Fields.
Strong knowledge of Workday EIB’s Inbound and Outbound functions.
Proficient in REST API, XSLT, Oxygen, Java, MVEL, Soap.
Studio logic, process and sub-processes.
Data delivery formats (CSV, XML, TXT). CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Hybrid (1-4 days per week in office) working conditions in an open office cubicle environment. Working hours are normal business hours with some evening or weekend work required. On-call assignments may be required. Remote work option possible upon approval.
