Protect AI, Inc. Head of UX & Design in Seattle, Washington

Duties: Lead the user experience (UX) and design team for Protect AI, a cybersecurity company offering innovative security products and thought leadership to help customers deliver secure and compliant Machine Learning (ML) models and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. Work with product management, engineering and marketing teams to ensure that products are designed to meet customer needs and business goals. Create design roadmap and lead design efforts to build an enterprise level platform experience, supporting product and engineering teams to conceptualize and visualize complex technical data into a user friendly digital experience. Guide the design of platform and products, corporate website layout and functionality, sub-domains, and community experiences. Establish design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency across all products. Manage design projects, priorities, scope, and resources. Solve complex design problems using a multidisciplinary design approach to integrate the skills and methodology of designers from multiple disciplines into a collaborative effort. Build and manage a team of designers who will work to create the best user experience for customers and support other internal organizations like marketing and sales with their branding and marketing campaigns. Mentor and guide design team members, helping them to grow their skills and expertise. Ensure that designs meet data privacy, accessibility and usability requirements. Work with the design team to create user interfaces (UI) that are visually appealing, intuitive, and easy to use. Develop prototypes to test design, scale, scope, strategy, structure and social impact using prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Flinto, Framer, UX Pin, Abstract, Invision). Work with the product management team to conduct user research and gather insights about user needs and behavior, and then use this information to create designs that are tailored to customers. Work with the engineering team to produce designs and to ensure that the designs are implemented accurately. Brief developers on the design and its functionality. Continue to stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in design and user experience. Bring new ideas to the team and advocate for innovative design solutions. Work with outside vendors on projects, as needed. May work remotely from a home office in Pacific time zone; schedule and location subject to manager approval. Minimal U.S. travel (up to 5%) required -- e.g., for quarterly meetings in Seattle, WA.

Requirements: Bachelor's or equivalent degree in design field (e.g., UX design, visual design, strategic design) plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a designer or equivalent position; or, a Master's or equivalent degree in design field (e.g., UX design, visual design, strategic design) plus 3 years experience as a designer or equivalent position. Requires at least 3 years of experience in a lead or principal design role for a technology company including: User Experience (UX) Design, User Interface (UI) Design, website design, and secure product design; conducting user research and using data to inform design decisions; using a multidisciplinary design approach, prototype tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch), and Adobe Creative Cloud; and front-end development using HTML, CSS, and Javascript.  Requires good oral and written English and interpersonal communication skills.
