The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), which is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. We work backwards from our customer’s most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to-market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. WWSO teams include business development, specialist and technical solutions architecture. As part of WWSO, you'll provide expertise across the entire life cycle of an AWS customer initiative, from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses. AWS WWSO is seeking a driven, talented, and experienced business leader to play a critical role on the leadership team to own Global Go To Market (GTM) activities for the Kubernetes businesses. This position will lead efforts across AWS Kubernetes services. The role will also be responsible for incubating new services and features as we enable our customers to innovate. This is done through mechanisms like early product incubation, GTM strategy, platform partnerships, field enablement and readiness, broad service adoption programs, and overall revenue growth for AWS. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven cross-functional leader to shape and drive the overall GTM. A good part of this role will require extending the incubation phase into an innovation phase, where one will have to think creatively that drive innovative development of applications on AWS. This can entail working with external partners to create an ecosystem around innovation, and also identifying and developing strategic partnerships can help AWS enter into emerging and growing markets.

As business leader for AWS, you will be a key member of the Application Modernization leadership team which owns the overall strategy, approach and execution of AWS Services dedicated to helping customers with complex migrations of enterprise applications and modernization pathways to leverage AWS. This will require close collaboration with the AWS Service Teams, Field Enablement Teams, Marketing, Proserve, Parnter, and Global WWSO Team. Close partnership with leaders and organizations outside of your immediate team will be necessary as you will build an overall structured approach and experience for incubation and innovation programs. Successful candidates should have strong program management, analytical, organizational, and communication skills and a passion for creating customer driven programs around emerging technologies.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive global incubation program for AWS Kubernetes Services including interaction with leadership and management meetings, as well as all hands meetings.

  • Develop in partnership with the AWS Service teams, strategic priorities and long-term plans for the organization

  • Define goals processes and drive monthly updates against those goals

  • Develop strong, productive relationships across peer organization that further our business objectives

  • Manage complex projects and programs while demonstrating exceptional business judgement

  • Demonstrated competency in the areas of group collaboration, analytical thinking and strategy

  • Work with the other WWSO Leaders to drive incubation process around AWS Services.

  • Enable the team to drive new market development efforts in emerging areas by working with leaders across product development and business development teams

  • Help to define broader market development themes, strategies and mental models for incubation and innovation.

About the team

As business leader for Kubernetes, you will be a key member of the Modern Applications team which owns the overall GTM strategy Containers, Serverless, and Integration Services on AWS.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of building and leading large, global teams and working in matrixed operating structures experience

  • 10+ years of experience in an operational or customer facing programs role, preferably with Containers Operator experience

  • Experience working with new product and service development teams, and outbound functions

  • Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross functional teams or equivalent

  • Deep understanding of containers, Kubernetes, and the cloud native ecosystem

  • Passion for understanding customer needs and shaping the market through vision and action

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of managing and developing high performance teams experience

  • Master's degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $174,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $288,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
