Port of Seattle Graduate Intern – Aviation Finance & Budget (AVFB) Non-Aeronautical Team in Seattle, Washington

Some of what you'll be doing:

This is a full-time summer intern position, with the potential to start earlier on a part-time basis. In this role you will support the Non-Aeronautical Team within the Aviation Finance & Budget (AVFB) department with various projects and serve as a financial partner providing Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) support to various operating departments within the Aviation Division of the Port of Seattle. One of your main projects will be participating in the development of the 2025 annual operating budget for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

With the support of other analysts on your team, you will work as a valued financial partner to the Commercial Management, Business & Properties, or Landside lines of business.

  • You will work with other AVFB analysts, as well as your business partners, to build the 2025 revenue and expense operating budgets. This is a complex and high impact role.

  • You will work with management and other team members to roll up the Airport-wide 2025 budget for reporting to senior leadership, including Commission.

  • You will work with complex modeling Excel spreadsheets and other systems and tools to aid in advanced financial analyses required to provide business partners the information necessary to make informed financial decisions.

  • You will assist in developing and maintaining the current year and long-term revenue forecasts for assigned lines of business.

  • You will monitor actual financial results against budget and forecast assumptions and research all significant variances as they occur.

  • You will prepare reports and present on financial performance results and potential risks and opportunities to AVFB, business partners, and senior leadership.

  • Participate in other AVFB tasks and projects, as time permits

Who you are:

  • A student – You must be currently enrolled as a graduate student or be a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) of a master’s degree program in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

What else you need to know:

Work Schedule – Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.

Work Environment – You will primarily work remotely in accordance with the Port’s Flexible Work Arrangement policy and may be required to work in an office environment as needed to meet business and operational needs.

Limited Duration – This is an intern position and is expected to last no longer than five months.

Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.

Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
