You can G.R.O.W. with Us by becoming our Government & Community Relations Manager THE ROLE Under general direction, plans and develops programs for residential, commercial and event recycling throughout the region. Develops and directs public education, public relations, and advertising materials and programs in support of programs, events, goals and activities in the region. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Plans and develops programs for residential, commercial and event recycling throughout the region. Develops and directs public education, public relations, and advertising materials and programs in support of programs, events, goals and activities in the region. Serves as liaison for recycling issues between the Company and all jurisdictions within the region. Seeks and cultivates opportunities to educate the public on the importance of recycling. Acts as liaison for local media on waste and recycling issues. Serves as the media contact for the region. Works with the Group Government & Community Relations Manager to develop public relations goals and objectives. Works with Group Manager and General Managers to develop individual company goals and objectives for public outreach and education efforts. Maintains press clippings pertaining to waste related issues in service area. Develops educational and advertising materials to support various programs, as needed, for the companies and events in the region. Develops and implements on-site waste reduction programs with educators. Oversees the development of educational and advertising materials to support various programs, as needed, for the companies and events in the region. Identifies and participates in community events that are advantageous to the Community Relations department. Develops and maintains contacts with industry group peers, external coalition groups, and other related third parties. Represents Company at meetings, conferences, and hearings. Prepares and delivers speeches and presentations within the community. Monitors state and federal legislative/regulatory updates that impact various operational and business practices of the Company. Attends and becomes active in local community organizations and events. Travels frequently to various offsite meetings. QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is: 6 years of experience in community relations, public relations or sales. Principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation. Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting. Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position relat
