Aston Carter Global Human Rights Sr. Manager in Seattle, Washington

Globally recognized Coffee Company headquartered in Seattle, WA is currently hiring for a Sr. Manager of Global Human Rights. This role will be within the company's global and social impact and sustainability team. This is a brand new organization for the company and they're growing. This role will coordinate with multiple units, working heavily with the legal, supply chain team, and SMEs to drive initiatives around environmental and global goals. This opportunity will work with partners who have passion for human rights and needing this individual to come in and set the strategic path for human rights. The team is fun, nimble, and growing.

Pay - $65/hr. - $75/hr. (depending on relevant qualifications on relevant human rights and industry experience)

Location - Fully Remote (Must Support PST Standard Core Hours)

Contract Duration - 12 Months Contract to start with high possibility of conversion

(Summary of Key Responsibilities)

  • Develop key human rights initiatives including establishing an enterprise governance model, due diligence processes, grievance mechanism and reporting to satisfy external stakeholders.

  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally across the company to build and implement proactive and reactive human rights programs.

  • Work with the company's global sourcing teams, business partnerships (I.e., channel partnerships and licensees) to ensure our programs, practices and partnerships help uplift and protect human rights across the value chain.

  • Lead benchmarking efforts, manage external consulting relationships and participate in human rights forums and partnerships to inform the company's human rights practices.

  • Develop KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the company's human rights practices to inform practices, external reporting and external benchmarking surveys

  • Advises cross-functional teams to embed human rights initiatives, planning and KPIs into strategic and financial plans.

(Qualification Requirements)

  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in human and labor rights, public policy or commensurate experience working in either public and private organizations. Master’s in Public Policy or MBA preferred.

  • Must be comfortable supporting core PST morning shift hours.

  • Absolute comfortability with strategy and presentation (creating and presenting).

  • Absolute comfortability with ambiguity (since this is an uncharted space in the company that is growing but needing a strategic leader)

  • Preferred relevant corporate experience (Global Retail / CPG companies / Law / U.N. / BSR).

  • Preferred relevant prior job titles (Human Rights Officer, Human Rights Director, Human Rights Manager, Social Impact Roles).

  • Preferred strong supply chain experience, including working across factories and audit programs (since this role will be working with the supply chain team frequently, having knowledge of communicating with that team would be a huge plus).

  • Exceptional change management experience and proven track record of working with sr. and executive leaders and leading cross-functional, global workstreams.

  • Expert collaborator and communicator and ability to work independently within ambiguous settings while driving clarity and action across matrixed corporate settings.

  • Ability to work independently within ambiguous settings with limited information or structure.

Compensation is tied to the Colorado and Washington markets for jobs performed in Colorado and Washington. Other locations may be subject to variances based on location-related factors.
