You can G.R.O.W. with Us by becoming our GIS Specialist ROLE Under general supervision, routes new services and re-route existing service to achieve route efficiencies and consolidate routes where possible. ESSENTIAL RESPONSBILITIES GIS SPECIALIST Uses the RouteSmart extension for ArcGIS to assist in building, maintaining, improving, and otherwise modifying designated Commercial Driver routes. Updates and maintains Graphical Information System (GIS) base maps for accuracy (e.g. reflects one-way streets, dead-ends, etc.). Collects user requests for new or modified routes to determinate scope, specifications, feasibility, timing, and cost considerations. Reports finding to management group. Works with team to develop project objectives and scope of work. Completes corrective actions when necessary and reports on performance and status of GIS projects. Contributes to plans to acquire, exchange, share, and integrate digital data between Recology Operating Companies. Provides information to Corporate to facilitate the determination of enhancements to hardware, software, and procedures to ensure maximizing use of system and overall system integrity. Answers user questions on GIS applications and concepts. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS The qualifications listed are typical of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of successful employees within this classification. Two years of related experience, including experience in GIS programs and reading, understanding, developing, and analyzing geographic information. Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and computer cartographic design, layout, and production. High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
