The School of Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-stack Developer and Business Intelligence Data Engineer to join their team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a Full-Stack Developer and Business Intelligence (BI) Data Engineer, you will develop and maintain custom hypertext preprocessor (PHP) web-based applications, ensuring they are optimized for performance and scalability. You will implement both front-end and back-end solutions using modern frameworks and technologies and integrate these applications with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting and deployment. In your responsibilities as a BI Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure, ensuring data is collected, stored, and accessible for BI and other applications. You will develop Extract Translate and Load (ETL) processes to manage data flow between enterprise systems and collaborate with the BI reports engineer to support data analysis and reporting needs. You will work closely with infrastructure engineers, BI reports engineer, support specialists, and the project manager, as well as collaborate with other units within the school and external partners. Your contributions will help improve development practices, processes, tools, and methodologies, and you will participate in strategy discussions to promote continual improvement. Additionally, you will implement continuous integration and automated release processes, monitor and maintain the health and performance of applications and data infrastructure, and troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
Full-Stack Development
Develop and maintain custom PHP web-based applications.
Ensure applications are optimized for performance and scalability.

Design, build, and maintain data infrastructure.

Perform other duties as required to support the ongoing mission and strategic plans of the school.
Some schedule flexibility is required at certain times of year (e.g., weekend and evening event coverage), as well as other duties as assigned. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hybrid work schedule available. Candidate must have the ability to accommodate on-site attendance as required to support the business needs of the School of Social Work. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in: computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
3 years experience using a wide range of technologies, including PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, MSSQL, AWS web development, etc. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in full stack PHP application development on AWS.
Proficiency in complex SQL query development including MS SQL in relation to business intelligence systems.
Experience with building the necessary technical workflows needed to ensure simple and documented designs that lead to successful long-term management of business intelligence systems.
Experience with large sets of relational SQL data, transactional logged updates, backup, and automated batch processing.
Proficiency with all phases of web development: design, build, and deploy, unit and functional test.
Strong knowledge of industry best practice development, working with vendors/service providers, and release management process.
Great communication skills. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree (or higher) in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.Technical Skills:
Proficiency in PHP and experience with modern PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel).
Strong knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular.
Experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS) for application hosting and deployment.
Solid understanding of database management (SQL and NoSQL databases).
Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development.
Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data warehousing concepts.
Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.Professional Experience:
Several years of experience in full-stack web development.
Experience in data engineering and managing data infrastructure.
Previous experience working in a collaborative team environment with infrastructure engineers, BI engineers, and support specialists.Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.
Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.Certifications:
AWS Certified Developer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other Agile certifications.
