This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. Our MK2 Crew Lander mission will demonstrate the lander's core capabilities - including the privately funded BE-7 landing engine, precision landing sensors, and integrated power and propulsion architecture - as a precursor to certifying the vehicle for use by NASA as part of the Artemis lunar exploration program. The team building this vehicle is rethinking how space systems are designed, with a high-performance architecture, efficient reusability, and rapid design iteration. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will work to design, analyze, build, test, integrate, deliver, and operate fluids and propulsion subsystems on Lunar landers. Special Mentions Relocation provided Occasional travel up to 15% of the time 1st Shift: 8am - 5pm Interviews will include a technical assessment Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Complete life cycle of the valves from definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation Design the next generation of cryogenic valves for use on our Lunar program and perform 1st order analyses to verify your designs Build Lunar vehicles in CAD by modeling valves, propulsion elements, sensors, piping, and other equipment in the flight vehicle Size, select material, and analyze flow and structural integrity under pressure, vibration, temperature, and mechanical loads Work with suppliers or Blue Origin groups to identify and procure components Work with support organizations to procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware Qualifications: B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field 2+ years of experience in valve and or mechanical+fluids component design Experience designing parts in CREO Ability to apply GD&T to create manufacturable, high performing component drawings Experience using design analysis tools such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop to evaluate the performance of your designs Ability to define and support testing of your design, conduct data analysis and iterate your design Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
