ANCHOR QEA, LLC Fisheries Modeling Expert in Seattle, Washington

Title: Fisheries Modeling Expert Location: Seattle, WA Job Type: Part-time Flex What's the Opportunity? Support Anchor QEA in overseeing and conducting salmonid life-cycle modeling to analyze potential impacts of proposed projects. Additionally, there may be future fish reintroduction, restoration, and passage projects that will require salmonid modeling and restoration prioritization expertise. Responsibilities: Provide expert knowledge and direct experience developing, managing, running, and interpreting the NOAA salmonid life-cycle model to support habitat restoration prioritization and evaluation of impacts and benefits of large-scale proposed projects, such as dams and levee systems. Responsibilities will include participation in teleconferences with agencies and tribes to discuss model parameters, salmonid life history trajectories, outmigration timing, and life history diversity. Provide as needed expertise on salmon behavior and watershed geomorphology and ecology, including the following: Participate in team meetings and meetings with agencies and tribes to discuss model parameters, data sources, long-term life-cycle effects, and model result interpretation. Oversee staff running the life-cycle model, provide senior technical QA/QC review of model inputs and results, and troubleshoot the model functions. Collaborate with other modeling efforts, including Ecosystem Diagnosis and Treatment (EDT) modeling to align and integrate EDT model outputs into the life-cycle model. What Are We Looking For? Ideal candidates will have the following: PhD with 25+ years of experience in fisheries and habitat restoration science Recent fisheries and habitat experience in the Chehalis Basin, particularly with salmonid life-cycle modeling Recognized expert in salmon behavior, ecology, and watershed-scale geomorphology and ecology What Can You Expect?
