Expeditors Financial Controller - Digital Solutions in Seattle, Washington

The Controller – Digital Solutions will promote the success of the company by directing the financial affairs of the Digital Solutions suite of products and services.  Some of the key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Accounting, Finance & Operations:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations including A/R, A/P, Credit, GL, Capital Expenditures, Payroll, Treasury, Revenue Recognition and Cost Accounting.

  • Prepare timely internal monthly accounts and annual budgets (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cashflows, and Analysis) for review by the Regional and Global Accounting teams and Digital Solutions leadership and operations team.

  • Liaise with Expeditors tax department and external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information and tax computations.

  • Coordinate with Expeditors tax department on all tax and regulatory compliance issues including the preparation and submission of information to statutory authorities for Payroll, VAT, Transfer Pricing and Corporation Tax related to Digital Solutions.

  • Provide required information/documentation for Internal Control Evaluations and Internal and External Audits.

  • Contribute analysis and provide support and decision making to the Digital Solutions Leadership team to facilitate decision making, budgeting and financial strategy direction setting.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships and communicate frequently with Digital Solutions Leadership and the operations of Digital Solutions

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with US and Global Accounting and Finance Team as this position reports dotted line into that team as well.

  • Participate in the execution of contracts (revenue and purchase services) in accordance with Expeditors’ policies.

  • Drive implementations of new Accounting Software system and integration into Expeditors’ existing systems and processes.

  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost reduction and efficiency opportunities.

People:

  • Recruiting, hiring, provide input and continually interview to find new potential candidates for the accounting department.

  • Identify, develop, and mentor a strong No. 2.

  • Review and conduct staff appraisals timely, and at a minimum once per year per employee.

  • Continually provide coaching and training to the team members.

  • Review department goals and personal plans periodically with staff to ensure buy-in and accountability

  • Relevant bachelor's or master's degree plus CPA (or equivalent).

  • Proven and strong experience as a Controller or similar financial or Big 4 Accounting firm. equivalent experience (4+ years’ experience in Senior Accounting Positions).

  • Experience with MS Office programs, particularly Excel a must (Power BI desirable)

  • Experience with Avalara preferred

  • Ability to work with a high degree of detail and able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
