Microsoft Corporation Events Experience Senior Marketing Manager in Seattle, Washington

We are looking for a seasoned dynamic Event Marketing Senior Manager to join the Central Marketing Organization (CMO).

The Senior Event Marketing Manager oversees successful Subsidiary event planning and execution to support Area business priorities, aligned to Field Engagement programs, Global Event Strategy and Local campaign opportunities. In this role, you will leverage data to gain insights to maximize innovation and business impact of events and drive optimization across portfolios. This role requires a passion for modern marketing techniques and driving customer demand to digital, hybrid and in-person event experiences - amplifying existing scaled programs while also defining new approaches to our commercial events marketing strategy. To be successful you will need to build on connecting sales and marketing models to drive success as well as have experience delivering vertical/industry campaigns/event experiences.

The ideal candidate is a quick learner and a rapid adopter of leading best practices from global subsidiary peers while being a courageous leader skilled in both managing vteams and championing effective marketing operations to drive positive business outcomes. You must enjoy ongoing challenges and creative problem solving in our multifaceted, highly matrixed organization. This person will also have a background in outcome based customer experiences that are delivered to Decision Maker audiences, driving creative end-to-end event integration. This includes strategy, planning, demand generation, execution and post event nurture. In order to be successful in this role, this candidate should have expertise in recognizing opportunities with specific audiences, demand generation strategies, overall customer event experiences, content delivery and how to continue engagement through post event nurture. Equally important is a broad understanding of the full marketing mix to be able to influence campaign strategies and where events can, and cannot, drive success.

Responsibilities

The Impact You'll Be Making

  • Event Strategy & Operational Excellence: Develop and manage local event strategy that supports Area business priorities, including business impactful/campaign aligned plans, process, systems, and digital tools to optimize the customer and partner event experience. Drive adoption and usage of the Microsoft Events Framework, leveraging corporate event investments and ensure all local events align to the branding, content, and timing standards which enable seamless connection of local events to Global and Field programs. Develop local event programs to drive consistency, efficiency, and scale. Drive the Area’s transformation from in-person events to digital events. (30% of time)

  • Event Program Owner: Own Industry (Public Sector, Local Government, Education and Healthcare) events as part of broader campaigns as well as Field aligned local events —in addition to global scale and 3rd party events. Consults as an Event expert within the US subsidiary on the contribution that events can make to our business goals; advising Industry, Solution and Marketing Communication peers on the inclusion of events as part of the marketing mix, driving alignment across the entire Subsidiary in respect to this discipline. (40% of time)

  • Event Metrics & Insights: Drive adoption of the event measurement/evaluation approach to enable more consistent event insights and optimization. Leverages business analytics and relevant metrics to drive business impact; acts as a Subsidiary’s Subject matter experts for competitive event activities. Compile learning and share leading practices across teams to help achieve the most effective results. (20% of time)

  • Systems and Tools Management: Drive consistent adoption and usage of the Global Events Digital Platform for all local events – driving compliance, diversity and accessibility for all. (10% of time)

Qualifications

Required Qualifcations

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of related marketing experience, including driving proven business performance success through events, and significant experience in project managing events within a broad range of budgets

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in driving successful to-industry and through field engagements

  • Experience in structuring and managing in-person, hybrid and digital events, driving engagement, earning, and keeping attendee attention, and digital event platforms

  • Experience in leading cross group virtual teams from audience, business and marketing peers to C-level engagement

  • Account based marketing experiences – enabling broad programmatic and unique experience with proven business impact across US regions/fields

  • Scaled program, speaker and content development with a passion for technology/solutions and the impact on organizations’ digital transformation

  • Business/marketing analytics & digital marketing and social amplification desired. Understanding of marketing automation concepts and software tools to capture contacts/leads and measure commercial impact of investments.

  • Experience in managing vendors is required as this position will manage outsourced event logistics and production vendors to ensure they event execution is aligned to business objectives for the Area/Subsidiary.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent work experience required. Master’s degree preferred. Business, Marketing or Communications field of study preferred
