UW MEDICINE PATIENT FINANCIAL SERVICES - ENTERPRISE REVENUE CYCLE TRAINING has an exciting opportunity for an EPIC UPGRADE EDUCATOR.
The EPIC UPGRADE EDUCATOR is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of effective Epic revenue cycle/patient access application training materials through applying adult education theory. The Epic Upgrade Educator designs, develops, and delivers Epic revenue cycle / patient access / patient financial services application training for UW Medicine staff and entity-based trainers, ensuring consistent messaging and competency acquisition across the enterprise.
University of Washington Medicine has committed significant state resources to acquire, install, and maintain the Epic system in order to increase revenue and decrease operational costs. Ongoing, quality Epic revenue cycle/patient access training is a major factor contributing to decreased front-end errors that result in denied claims and increased customer satisfaction with their outpatient clinic, procedural, and surgical experience at UW. The standardized, streamlined workflows taught will help reduce operating costs. All of these benefits result in increased revenue. As a person with primary responsibility for training specific Epic applications across the enterprise, this position plays a major role in UW Medicine's ability to reach these goals.
Conduct instructor-led classes, both face-to-face and using synchronous web-based technology for end users on revenue cycle systems.
Evaluate and monitor student learning using objectives, core competencies, knowledge checks, and assessments.
Notify managers of learners in need of additional training/practice and recommend appropriate solutions.
Proctor practice labs, monitoring student learning and providing assistance and feedback as needed.
Deliver and maintain asynchronous Epic Revue Cycle Application training.
Develop upgrade training materials for Epic Revenue Cycle Applications
Perform training patient build for Epic Cadence, Referrals, GC, HB, SBO, and Prelude
Partner with Training Manager and/or Training Technologist to identify performance gaps, perform training analysis to determine whether gaps are due to skill deficits, and if so, recommend and negotiate appropriate training solutions.
Develops performance-based training objectives and validate with training manager and target audience department managers and supervisors.
Maintain straining materials to ensure they are up to date and contain the most effective and engaging training technologies and delivery methods.
Work with the team's Educational Technologist/ Instructional Designer to co-write requirements, and co-design and co-develop content for web-based solutions.
Develop change notice and job aid content and integrate changes into existing training materials.
Assist with building and maintaining patient data in the Epic Master training environment that is required for the ERC Training courses.
Conduct usability tests of all materials and assessments for comprehension, accuracy, and ease of use.
Conduct level 1 and 2 evaluation of all training solutions taught and/or developed.
TRAINING ADMINISTRATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
For training material maintenance and update efforts, use project management skills and work with training manager to identify tasks and timelines to meet department objectives.
Co-develop with the department's program coordinator the development of the annual schedule of classes for on-going new employee training. Schedule other classes when needed.
Ensure that training rooms are reserved and all training locations are adequately equipped for regular and train-the-trainer classes.
Ensure that classes are scheduled, students registered, and attendance is tracked using the electronic learning management system for ongoing classes.
Ensure that training scheduled is publicized to appropriate audiences.
Ensure that printed training materials are produced accurately, on time, and in most cost effective method.
COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION, OTHER
Assist revenue cycle Epic IT and Operations analysts by participating in design reviews and providing feedback based on knowledge of end user workflows, observing and reporting end users use of revenue cycle applications in relation to standardized workflows, and assessing the impact of enhancements on end-user workflows.
Collaborate with other educators on the development and delivery of new training solutions.
Work closely with Educational Technology Specialist to utilize the electronic learning management system effectively.
Assist the training manager and/or instructional technologist when consulting with UWM managers and supervisors to identify training needs, develop performance
Bachelor's degree with emphasis on Health Care, Education, Instructional Design, Technical Writing or related field. 2 to 3 years recent clinical, patient financial services, patient educator, or instructional design experience. Equivalent education or work experience may substitute for the above
Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Health Care, Business Administration or the completion of a certificate program in Adult Education and Training, Educational Technology, or related area is preferred.
2 to 3 years recent clinical, patient financial services, patient educator, or instructional design experience.
Recent experience writing/editing eLearning scripts, and recording narration and demonstration videos.
Recent experience teaching Epic Cadence, Referrals, and Prelude classes.
Certified/Credentialed/Proficient Trainer in Epic ADT/Prelude, Cadence, Hospital Billing, Referrals and/or EpicCare
Recent experience delivering Epic revenue cycle application systems training to health care staff.
Expert user of MS Office; Adobe Acrobat Pro; Snagit, Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks or similar graphics software. Familiarity with Adobe Captivate, Storyboard, and/or SharePoint.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Office environment - Maintains an office co-located with the Enterprise Revenue Cycle training team. Classroom environment - Travels to classroom locations at the various entities that make up UW Medicine and its affiliates.
