Title: Environmental Sciences Specialist Location: Seattle, WA Job Type: Part-time Flex What's the Opportunity? Support Anchor QEA in implementing the "Study of Physical Data Gaps to Inform the Implementation of Nur Reintroduction/Rematriation Upstream of Shasta Dam" (CDFW Grant Agreement Number-Q2396040). The study includes filling data gaps to inform a fish passage feasibility study and narrowing down alternatives from a broad list of options to three potential upstream and three potential downstream options. Additionally, there may be future fish passage projects that will require fisheries expertise. Responsibilities: Provide expert knowledge on salmon behavior and ecology to support fish passage alternative assessments. This includes teleconferences with agencies to discuss study designs, test fish sources, reservoir ecology information, outmigration timing, and life history diversity. Provide as needed expertise on salmon behavior and ecology, including the following: Participate in a week-long tour of the project area and team meetings with the tribal members, salmon co-managers, agencies, and other representatives. Participate in team meetings and in meetings with agencies to discuss salmon ecology, biology, phenology, adult migration and homing characteristics, and reservoir ecology. These topics are to support an evaluation of survival through Shasta Reservoir and development of fish passage alternatives. Assimilate traditional indigenous knowledge into fish passage alternative discussions based on western scientific principles. If requested, review and edit summaries of salmon life history, historical and current run timing, and population productivity. What Are We Looking For?
