Job Description: Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming. Manage a team of mobile developers to build user facing features that make Redfin the best place to find a place to live. Partner with product managers to collaborate and produce product specs and designs. Translate feature requests into technical solutions and create architectural foundations for app development. Apply understanding of mobile app development to adopt platform best practices and strive for the best experience possible for our users. Oversee the mobile software feature development lifecycle, shipping updates weekly to the app stores. Employ iOS and Android coding standards and best practices to ensure a consistent development model across all engineers on the team. Apply foundational knowledge of Swift and Kotlin programming languages to guide engineers in building new features. Maintain a high bar of quality for software releases. Prioritize requests from multiple stakeholders, investing the team's time in the most important areas. Oversee planning meetings with engineers and product managers. Make resourcing decisions to staff projects and understand tradeoff impacts. Own the team's timeline and project management. Mentor and coach engineers to make the right technical design solutions given business needs. Conduct 1:1 meetings with engineers, oversee personal growth targets for employees. Work with Engineering Leadership and Human Resources to develop promotion paths for engineers. Develop engineers into Technical Leaders, provide guidance on building sustainable components that withstand the test of time. Recruit high potential mobile engineers to grow your team. Guide their career growth through thoughtful questions, candid feedback, and careful goal setting. Interview and source industry talent, successfully close to offers to hire. Build career development plans for the team and broader org. Instill a strong culture amongst employees that maps to Redfin values. Contribute to the strategy and roadmap for the team, using business metrics as a guide. Understand key drivers for success. Able to interpret metrics dashboards and change team direction when required. Drive strong vision that connects engineers with broad mission of the Rentals product and Redfin's mission to redefine real estate in the consumer's favor. Evaluate options based on value to the business and make pragmatic decisions that will separate Redfin from competitors. Telecommuting permitted.

The position requires a Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Applied Computer Science, Software Engineering or in related field and 6 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.

Special Requirements: Position requires experience in each of the following skills:

• 2 years of experience developing mobile application code in either Swift/Objective C or Kotlin/Java.
• 1 year of experience leading architectural decisions through object-oriented programming and test-driven development.
• 1 year of experience building and maintaining build pipelines for application development.
• 1 year of experience with tools like Jenkins, Git, and/or Stash to ship code to production.
• 1 year of experience in a people management capacity leading a team of engineers and guiding career development.
• 1 year of experience in mobile app security design and fundamental understanding of encryption.
• Experienced with static code analyzers such as Black Duck, Fortify, and/or Snyk.
