Nordstrom Engineer 2 - Restaurant POS in Seattle, Washington
An Engineer 2 is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability is at the function level.
As part of the Restaurant team, you will focus on modernizing and managing restaurant point of sale applications, integrating with different hardware components, vendor products, and Nordstrom internal applications and services. This position plays a critical role in ensuring we can serve the customer with uniform experience across different concepts as well as explore new ways to serve the customer how they want it and where they want it.
A day in the life…
Interacting with product owner and business partners to understand their needs and vision for restaurant space.
Design and develop new features and integrate with existing point of sale (POS) application.
Collaborating with other store teams to learn and adapt standards followed in retail POS space.
Test all scenarios and conform to quality and engineering standards.
Keeping all systems and applications up to date by deploying latest version of application, software and tools.
Participating in Agile ceremonies such as standups, story grooming, spring planning, retro, etc.
Testing and evaluating new vendor products/applications.
Automating and improvising support model of applications and hardware used in stores by building dashboards, creating and managing alerts.
You own this if you have…
3+ years of professional experience in practice area.
Experience with developing Java and Spring based applications (preferably POS space) for windows environment.
Experience with PowerShell scripting.
Experience with Cloud (AWS) and Container (Docker and Kubernetes) technologies.
Exposure to Windows Administration tools such as SCCM, GPO and Active Directory.
Exposure to log aggregation and application performance monitoring tools such as Splunk and New Relic.
Exposure to CD/CI tools such as Maven, git-ci, Chef etc.,
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
