Port of Seattle Diversity in Contracting Coordinator in Seattle, Washington

Some of what you'll be doing:

As a Diversity in Contracting Coordinator, you will support the Port of Seattle's Women and Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE) Program in assisting Port Departments/Divisions in achieving their WMBE aspirational goals. You will be participating in setting WMBE contract goals and reviewing of affirmative efforts on Port procurements.

  • You will support the Women and Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE) Program in coordinating the various elements of procurement and contracting processes for construction, consulting, and goods & service contracts.

  • You will review, evaluate and make determinations on submittals

  • You will conduct analyses that accurately evaluates WMBE marketplace data and availability to assist in developing specific WMBE participation goals.

  • You will support monitoring and tracking of WMBE goals to ensure that the Port's Diversity in Contracting goals are met on all contracts.

  • You will gather and analyze data for creating reports on ethnicity/WMBE participation percentages, and payments on contracts and port spending.

  • You will assist and occasionally lead projects that lend to improving the program.

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have one (1) year of experience working on initiatives or projects related to civil rights, cultural diversity, or community partnerships.

  • Desired – We hope you have experience in Equity Program Administration, Minority Business Program Administration and/or Government Procurement and Contracting.

  • Efficient Communicator – You possess highly effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. You can read and interpret contract documents of all types, particularly contract documents.   • Critical Thinker – You are able to gather, analyze and synthesize complex data to inform strategy and improve processes. Additionally, you are able to review inclusion plans and provide evaluation.

  • Knowledgeable – You have an understanding and current awareness of civil rights issues, and small business challenges in all contracting sectors.

What else you need to know:

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.

  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion. You may visit construction job sites to conduct field evaluations of contractors.

  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

  • Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
