How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The District Sales Manager, Cargo role is responsible for the development and implementation of regional sales strategies, revenue generation and yield improvement. The District Sales Manager, Cargo is also responsible for leading, directing and mentoring assigned team of highly-skilled, self-motivated Cargo Account Managers.

  • Provides support in the development of sales training and recurrent sales training programs and the management of internal/external compensation programs.

  • Ensures effective strategy, execution and implementation through cross functional team leadership and communications.

  • Additional responsibilities include negotiating system agreements and overseeing all aspects of Delta’s relationship with specific Strategic Partner and local accounts within the assigned territory and develops executive-level business relationships with key management personnel that influence company shipping decisions.

  • Has direct responsibility for regional cargo sales strategic development.

  • Has direct responsibility for regional cargo revenue generation based on sales performance and activities.

  • Monitors account managers for implementation and compliance with revenue initiatives for all customers at local level.

  • Mentors, measures and assesses performance of regional sales team based upon business unit plan. Promotes use of all distribution channels to achieve sales goals.

  • Develops regional sales plan and budget supporting overall corporate strategy.

  • Liaison for region with Joint Venture sales team.

  • Travel to customers within region.

  • Develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well being.

Salary range is $113,200- $141,500.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Must possess a high level of sales and public contact experience, including strategic thinking, solid decision making and ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills as well as solid customer focus, strong planning, relationship and organizational skills.

  • Must have a working knowledge of Delta’s cargo operation and sales process or similar experience within the cargo industry.

  • Clear understanding of operating and planning process is a must.

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
