UW Medicine Supply Chain Management has an outstanding opportunity for a Director/Site Lead for Supply Chain .
WORK SCHEDULE
100% FTE, Days POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Oversee the day to day Supply Chain operations and strategic direction of the onsite needs for the HMC campus
Sets the strategic direction HMC onsite operations related to distribution of stock and non-stock items, inventory management for the medical stores perpetual inventories, par locations, and identified procedural areas, vendor management, fiscal management of an annual operating budget of over $8M and in excess of 60 FTEs spanning multiple locations
Participates in the development of operating and capital budgets, programs, policies and plans for the effective operation of HMC and the health system. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine Supply Chain’s objective is to ensure our patient care experience is enhanced by delivering a robust foundation of services, operational and technical support, and the sharing of comprehensive, relevant, and highly specialized supply chain management expertise. This includes a primary focus on customer service, as well as maintaining appropriate levels of general, medical, and surgical supplies throughout each facility. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Take a lead role in interpreting and applying resolution techniques; management of diversity in the workplace; effective communication and active listening skills, consensus-building and critical thinking and strategic problem resolution practices in order to achieve team goals
Participate as a member of the varied HMC and UW Medicine committees; make presentations and represent HMC and UW Medicine Supply Chain on boards, commissions, associations and committees as requested and approved by the Chief Supply Chain Officer of UW Medicine
Direct onsite teams including inventory control, receiving, and medical stores staff to ensure collaborative relationships with supported Departments, Physicians, and Clinicians within the facilities in order to achieve HMC strategic goals and initiatives while reducing total cost of patient care and improving patient outcomes
Deliver cost savings and value maximization to the total cost of ownership of equipment, supplies and services while fulfilling the mission of UW Medicine to improve the health of the public
Assure appropriate Internal Control processes are in place across the procurement cycle functions and are promulgated throughout HMC
Responsible for HMC compliance with all governing rules, regulatory requirements, and procedures related to inventory and mobile equipment management, including the monitoring and oversight of accountable departments as well as organization-wide performance
Strategic planning and coordinating the supply, material flow, and storage of inventory from the supplier to end users including proactive inventory management based off key performance indicators, cycle counting and First In- First Out (FiFo) inventory methodology
Implement and employ relevant performance and quality metrics for Supply Chain activities with a focus on process improvement, service enhancement and improved automation.
Controls the flow of products to ensure arrival according to schedule and specifications to maximize efficiency and quality related to patient care.
Monitor the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of supplies; find cost effective ways to distribute supplies & materials to various end users throughout HMC.
Analyze data to monitor performance and plan improvements and demand.
Maintain key performance indicators, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records.
Provide professional leadership and strategic direction and oversight to an appropriately prepared staff by actively recruiting and hiring exceptional staff; plan, assign and evaluate the work of that staff; and provide creative instruction and feedback to that staff on contemporary methods and procedures for a workplace that values diversity.
Develop and implement effective monitoring systems including key performance indicators to help set and measure goals to ensure performance objectives are met; laws, rules, regulations and policies are followed in meeting the goals of HMC and UW Medicine.
Establish well-defined metrics for departmental activities; work with all applicable HMC, and UW Medicine databases. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree required; graduate of an accredited Supply Chain Management academic program preferred and a minimum of 5 years healthcare supply chain management/leadership experience, with demonstrated materials management and logistics knowledge Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration UW Medicine – Where your Impact Goes Further UW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
