UW Medicine’s Patient Financial Services - Enterprise Revenue Cycle has an outstanding opportunity for a Director WORK SCHEDULE

  • Lead a team that serves the entirety of UW Medicine

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to our patients and enhance their overall experience DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Enterprise Revenue Cycle department is responsible for the technical components in Hospital Billing across UW Medicine. The successful incumbent will focus on Patients are First while securing timely collection of UW Medicine Accounts Receivables. Annual net revenue from PFS efforts exceed $3 billion a year. This cash allows the medical centers to fund operations and achieve the capital and strategic initiatives that are required for continued growth and financial viability.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure staff meets performance standards and internalizes Patient First Goals

  • Ensure consistent communication and coordinates problem solving among Revenue department (Patient Financial Access Services, Enterprise RecordsHealthcare Information, and Revenue Integrity), Compliance, IT, Finance and Reimbursement staff

  • Develop and mentor direct reports and team members to increased levels of performance and professional growth and leads by example in all areas

  • Assure education regarding regulatory standards for all areas of responsibility. Monitor performance of all functions for compliance with Federal and State requirements

  • Respond to and investigate issues and compliance concerns reported by internal personnel, in partnership with the Compliance Office

  • Oversee the development of business and workflow requirements, future state workflows, workflow reengineering

  • Work with and be able to influence change among a multi-disciplinary group involved in patient experience management, including clinical and financialstaff at multiple facilities

  • Seek out products and system improvements, and best practices that promote efficiency and standardization across the system

  • Identify needs and develop policies and procedures across facilities and disciplines

  • Sustain and establish new, Patient Financial Services related metrics to achieve best practices in performance

  • Propose, oversee, and manage departmental budgets for all areas

  • Budget accountability generally ranges from $5 - $25M in a director role REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in business, finance healthcare, or a related field. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement

  • Six to eight years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle experience in a Patient Financial Services role, complex academic, research, healthcare or governmental setting

  • Proven track record of holding payers accountable for timely and compliant payment for services including successful escalation of payer issues toregulatory or governing entities

  • Understands financial management and health care reporting. Very strong analytical skills and strong working knowledge of Epic workflow and reporting

  • Possesses a working knowledge of various payment and coding systems, particularly the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS), Medicaid APGGrouper, HCPCS and CPT-4 coding schemas

  • Possesses a working knowledge of the UB-04, MA claim form, and the Claim Form-1500

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Excellent project management, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Detail-oriented and independently motivated
