Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent practical experience

• 15 years of experience managing Engineering teams

• Experience with generative AI, responsible AI, and real-time data processing.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scitkit, and other deep learning frameworks

• Experience using collaborative notebook-based workflows (e.g. Jupyter) for prototyping and knowledge sharing

• Expertise in AI/ML quality evaluation and improvement, including balancing tuning techniques with cost/benefit tradeoffs

• Ability to promote product excellence and collaboration driving a portfolio of concurrent engineering projects running the gamut from short-term critical feature launches to long-term research initiatives

Generative AI Incubation is responsible for ideation, technical exploration, and project execution of new Generative AI technologies. This includes working with product and engineering to analyze and test the latest research, prototyping new tools, features, and products, and collaborating closely with teams across Google Cloud to bring these innovations into production.

As Director, you will utilize a background in software engineering and/or product management, and ML/AI technology, especially with Neural Networks and Machine Learning (ML) methodologies. You will bring a high level of proficiency with tools, covering the entire model lifecycle, from data engineering and feature extraction to model creation, evaluation, and deployment. You will be involved in a high amount of experimentation and ideation, and will actively seek new ideas, building prototypes with fast iterations. You will collaborate closely with our teams to understand the current solutions, and identify areas of innovation and ultimately the delivery of new AI services to our product services.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $271,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Manage and provide technical leadership for a team of engineers and product managers. Co-lead the technology and innovation strategy for Generative AI and Machine Learning.

• Understand, implement, and improve upon the latest research in Generative AI. Collaborate with team members to build, evaluate, and deploy critical features.

• Design, prototype, and develop innovative and complex software systems with minimal oversight.

• Provide technical leadership, and advance the mission of the larger team, while mentoring and training other team members.
