Description

The Director, AWS Worldwide Public Sector Finance will be the single-threaded finance leader for Amazon’s rapidly growing Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) business. This includes providing controllership and strategic partnership to the US Federal, State and Local, Education, Health Care and Life Sciences and International public sector businesses -- all of which are critical growth drivers to AWS. This position will serve as a liaison for Public Sector and will partner with Finance counterparts across AWS service teams, infrastructure team, sales, and business operations. This position will be part of the AWS Finance org, supporting the WWPS VP and Head of Business Operations. The successful candidate will help drive strategic growth of the Public Sector business by providing financial stewardship and analytical insights into key financial and operational performance metrics. This role will be a strategic partner to the business to assist in evaluating new operational processes and business expansion opportunities.

Key job responsibilities

The successful hire will work across the Finance organization to identify strategic opportunities to accelerate growth, establish KPIs that help to measure and track the ongoing performance of the business, monitor the key inputs to the business to ensure we are optimizing productivity, continuously improve internal controls, and drive relationship building across AWS. They will prioritize and direct work across multiple finance teams in AWS and work across multiple business lines within WWPS. The right candidate will have a passion for detail and the ability to dive deep into the foundational building blocks of the Public Sector business.

Focus and Deliverables for first 12 Months

· Deliver Finance leadership to the Public Sector team by aligning all finance counterparts across the AWS business and developing a long-term plan

· Partner closely with Legal to support public sector transactions at all levels (domestically and internationally)

· Develop rhythm of the business mechanisms to drive ongoing accountability

· Provide leadership, guidance and implementation on driving financial process improvement

· Own and drive Commercial Sales Practices/CSP compliance for required reporting analysis and budget controllership

Basic Qualifications

15+ years of experience in accounting, internal audit, finance operation etc.in a sales and marketing focused organization

At least 7 years of experience supporting public sector transactions for government contractors including:

Professional services engagements as a government prime or subcontractor

Experience in budgeting/planning for a sales organization

Experience modeling P&L statements and understanding capacity constraints

Proven process development, improvement, and project management ability that demonstrates organizational and problem solving skills that lead to a successful conclusion

Independent and entrepreneurial showing the ability to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

ACCA, CIMA and the ability to guide and influence senior leadership

Internal and external customer focus and a work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations

Exceptional business judgment capable of driving a diverse organization to the right results with a focused, pragmatic approach

Experience with controllership of budgets

Passion for diving into the details of productivity metrics and cost measurement including marketing ROI and customer lifetime value analysis.

Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or MBA

Experience supporting financial audits by government agencies

Contracting through the US General Services Administration Multiple Awards Schedule Program (either directly or via resellers)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $183,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $273,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
