The Digital Communications Platform team at Best Buy is responsible for building a new platform that allows customers to seamlessly communicate with Best Buy in any channel they wish and switch, from SMS to chat to voice and more without needing to restart a conversation along the way. This platform is a core part of our customer loyalty strategy ensuring every interaction with Best Buy is frictionless and a delightful experience.
As a Director, Engineering – Conversational AI you will be leading high-performance engineering teams of backend and front-end engineers and QA Engineering. Your team will be responsible for bringing our conversational AI strategy to life. You will be accountable for our Conversational AI platform which will span both voice and text-based channels and leverage industry leading technologies and combined with Best Buy built capabilities. You will be partnering with various product, UX and business stakeholders, as well as operational teams at BBY to deliver innovative solutions that will help deliver great customer outcomes at internet scale.

Proficiency troubleshooting system issues, fix software defects and supporting a highly distributed production system
8 or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
2 or more years managing and/or leading engineering teams
1 or more years of experience managing other managers
4 or more years of experience as software developer in standard web technologies
1 or more years of experience using solutions with NLU/NLP technologies, such as Google DialogFlow, Amazon Lex or other conversational AI technologies for building voice and/or chat bots.
11 or more years of relevant professional experience
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
1 or more years of experience with IVR’s, chatbots and contact center technologies, like Twilio, Amazon Connect, Nuance, Cisco, etc.
Experience with full stack of modern web technologies and frameworks (React, ES6-7, Webpack, Node, Java, Groovy etc.)
Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine, OpenStack, Rackspace cloud, etc.)
Experience working with Java, Groovy, Spring, SQL, Cassandra, message queues.
Proficiency with UNIX/Linux command line
Experience in test driven development, continuous integration and deployment practices
Experience with micro service development that produce/consume REST APIs
