Job Description:

As the Director of Cloud Operations for Oracle SaaS@Customer you will help U.S. government customers to deploy, transition to and support workloads to Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure running in the customers’ premises. The Oracle SaaS@Customer service is an offering that gives Oracle customers the software and services provided by the Oracle Public Cloud on hardware installed in the customer’s own data center. Members of the SaaS@Customer Operations team are responsible for delivering technical support and solutions to SaaS@Customer customers while serving as an advocate for customer needs. Team members will engage in operational activities including monitoring, installation, patching, and upgrading Oracle Fusion middleware and Oracle database implementations. Additionally, they will address complex, critical customer system issues on a routine basis.

Oracle brings its complete portfolio of public cloud services and Oracle Fusion SaaS applications into customer’s data center so that they can reduce data center costs, upgrade legacy applications using modern services, and meet their most demanding data residency and latency requirements. With SaaS@Customer, Oracle is years ahead of other cloud vendors, being the only provider that can offer a completely integrated cloud experience on-premises.

As Director of Cloud Operations, you will lead an exceptional team of enterprise cloud engineers and report to VP of Cloud Engineering.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated customer-facing leader to coach, grow, and partner with a technically skilled support team. You will help develop the team by enabling and coaching them on best practices, solution selling, presentation and speaking skills, as well as how to create and present architectures of widely varying size and complexity.

In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technology. Furthermore, thought leadership, in terms of looking beyond the deployed technology and considering the value the service creates for our customers, is essential with helping drive change and improve the SaaS@Customer service for Oracle and experience for the customer.

You will help team members ramp-up on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as well as need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with the customer and other departments within Oracle such as our services teams and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive management.

This position is for FULL TIME work (primarily day shift) during weekdays and will require some weekend day/evening shifts for maintenance activities.

Team members connect remotely to customer systems so travel to customer sites is not required. Candidates will be required to work from an Oracle office in the Seattle / Bellevue, WA area.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • As a key member of the operations support management team, ensure success in supporting applications, software and services on the Oracle SaaS@Customer solution (based on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure platform)

  • Hire, on-board, train, and develop staff

  • Collaborate with other SaaS@Customer colleagues to promote standard practices and consistency between teams

  • Coach staff in the skills needed to succeed in their roles and conduct training sessions

  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the SaaS@Customer organization

  • Build and maintain relationship with customer accounts to enable them to be “SaaS@Customer advocates”

  • Act as a conduit and liaison between the customer and various Oracle teams

  • Assist in the development, implementation and achievement of strategic objectives

  • Regularly interact across functional areas and senior management to report on unit objectives

  • Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important

  • Manage and direct a staff of solution specialists in providing support to the customer.

  • Establish and communicate departmental objectives and implements plans to ensure attainment of business objectives.

  • Assist in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives.

  • Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important.

Basic Qualifications:

Top Secret Clearance or/ TS/SCI required.

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or 10 year’s work experience in technical role in lieu of no Bachelor’s degree.

  • 5 years management of technical, enterprise customer facing resources.

  • 5 years of experience in infrastructure / operating system support, database management and/or networking.

  • Experience in at least one of the following:

  • Weblogic Application Server Installation and Administration

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation and Administration

  • Oracle RDBMS Installation and Administration (including RAC databases)

  • Software Development / DevOPS / DevSecOPS

  • Working knowledge of Linux including commands and shell scripting / Python

  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g. Java, C, C , etc.)

  • Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills in middleware and/or database areas

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and with members of a global team without close supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Math.

  • Experience operating in and supporting cloud-based solutions. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certification or relevant cloud expertise.

  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

  • Excellent presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers

  • Experience leading teams in technology, software sales or pre-sales consulting.

  • Oracle Fusion Application Installation and Administration experience (a big plus)

  • SOA Suite administration (BPEL & WSM)

  • Knowledge of Oracle Internet Directory (OID) & IDM administration

  • Implementation and Administration of Oracle Goldengate
