IBM Development Automation Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Your Role and Responsibilities

You are an engineer interested in helping other engineers. You have a solid SWE background, combined with DevOps or SRE experience, working in microservices, and partnering with developer in an engineering (not operational) capacity. In this role, you will be building out deployments and documentation for the following products:

  • Jenkins

  • Artifactory

  • Containers

  • VeraCode

  • BlackDuck

  • Jfrog Xray

  • BitBucket

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Responsibilities

  • Develop CI/CD automation and tooling (Python, Go, typescript/nodejs)

  • Develop Python based user interface (CLI) for CI/CD (build/deploy automation)

  • Mentor junior engineers on software engineering practices

  • Participate in backlog grooming

  • Contribute to product feature identification/prioritization based on support requests

  • Conduct code reviews

  • Implement and maintain secure coding, software build and distribution best practices

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in large existing codebase

  • Collaborate on either EST or PST working hours, with regular cross- timezone meetings

  • Quickly onboarded into productive role providing technical guidance

  • Mentored junior engineers in coding and collaboration

  • Participated in user support calls, live collaboration on group training and support issues

  • Incorporated unit and integration testing into all new feature development and bugfixes

  • Frequently participated in pair programming and design sessions

  • Increased project maturity by guiding or directly implementing best practices

  • Identified opportunities then implemented tooling enhancements based on support themes

  • Refactored sprawling codebase to improve maintainability

  • Introduced security improvements in CICD

Skills

  • 5+ years of experience writing advanced to expert Python scripts

  • 5+ years of experience writing intermediate to advanced Go, typescript, Java, or .Net (highly valued)

  • 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift

  • 5+ years of experience of advanced Git, GitHub and Jenkins

  • 5+ years of experience of intermediate to advanced Jenkins CI (developer, user AND admin)

  • 5+ years of experience in a Linux and Windows environment, but also supporting Mac and Linux users

  • 5+ years of experience with multiple CI/CD integrations:

  • 5+ years of experience working with SCM/CI

  • 5+ years of experience performing security scanning

  • 5+ years of experience performing alerting and monitoring
