Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description
As a Color Material and Finish Designer, you will shape the future of consumer electronics in the emerging Augmented and Virtual Reality industry, as well as Personal Communication and Social Connections via our products. You will bring extensive knowledge of industry trends, forecasting color development and management, and have the technical knowledge to translate a creative vision into production-ready materials and processes. You will have a record of shipping successful products in the Consumer Electronics, Wearable Technology, Fashion, or Eyewear industries, and be comfortable working collaboratively with cross-discipline teams and manufacturing partners. Your insights, creative input, and development efforts will help guide the unique style and distinctive look of our brand.
Responsibilities
Interface with industry to research and develop proprietary and innovative hardware styles, construction details, material combinations, new production techniques, etc.
Assist in the continual gathering and sharing of trends in consumer electronics, eyewear, and fashion markets.
Create fully resolved CMF strategy for presentation to team members, partners, and manufacturers.
Assist in the resolution of design, prototyping, and manufacturing issues during the development phase, creating fully resolved solutions to communicate and resolve manufacturing and prototyping challenges.
Manage and maintain CMF product specifications for products in development from concept to production.
Skills
Proficiency in communicating design vision and concepts using 2D color renderings and 2D CAD. 3D CAD and visualization experience is a plus.
Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented, and the ability to multitask across different projects and categories.
Working knowledge of plastic injection molding, metal fabrication techniques, resin development, coating technologies, plastics decoration processes, fabrics, and textiles.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from an accredited college or university or relevant professional experience.
5 years of experience working as a CMF Designer/Developer.
Work Environment
This position involves working collaboratively with cross-discipline teams and manufacturing partners. The work environment will include the use of various technologies such as CAD software and other design tools, and the role may require occasional domestic travel. The successful candidate will need to exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask across different projects and categories. The ability to communicate effectively and manage stress in a professional setting is essential.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
